Another Hayabusa powered car! I love this motor. That is a mean P/W ratio. Let's see 35 BP, that is about $68k US (wow the dollar is so low). That's a decent price for what is a basicly a mini formula racer. An alternative, you can pick up a 120hp Formula Ford for around $25k US and race it fairly cheaply. The forumla mazda's can also be bought around $70k, but cost more to maintain/run and weight about 1150lbs.

I love what Radical has done with this motor as well.

Not as pretty, but should be interesting

They also said it would be available as a kit for 20k UK Pounds ($40k) w/o motor or wheels, so around $45k complete. Might be fun to built it too...

I think it will have to be imported to USA without the motor to qualify for kit-car licensing/registration like the Noble.

I think this Danish speedster is much faster than the Formula Ford and maybe even faster than the Formula Mazda, but more importantly, it's the only street-legal offering. You can regsister a Caterham or Ariel Atom, but this car is just over half the weight and the tandem seating probably gives it a very different driving sensation...

That thing is really ugly, but I wonder how much it weighs? The price is certainly decent...

I highly doubt you will be able to register this car in the US and actually drive it on the street. From a US perspective, this is a track only car...but really no matter what country you live, this is a track only car.

Decent price, but the motor will cost you $15k+ plus the sequential transmission. Also, they usually don't include brakes in the kits either. Engine rebuilds every 1-2 years...can you tell I have done lots of research on this. I once looked at buying a Radical, but the cost of the car without any warranty and inability to put insurance on the thing turned me off.

I basically can't see paying $70k for something I could easily crash and lose everything (including my @ss). I feel safer in my strapped into a caged car.

Crash-worthiness is definitely more important than ability to drive this on street. But have to disagree with you on your engine comment, in that a used motorcycle engine can be bought for around $1k, so the engine/transmission becomes a consumable item. I also looked at Radical before buying my Stohr/West DSR four years ago. Hope you're also using a HANS. Cheers.

Your not buying a Hayabusa for $1k...no way. Plus the Haybusa that they use in these "kit" cars are not the same as used in the Suzuki motorcyle.

Re: A REALLY Lightweight track car!

sorry 95jersey, my bad. I was trying to make generic comment about how motorcycle-based track/race cars are very cheap when it comes to engines in that stock used motors can be viewed as consumables because of their low costs. Wasn't trying to imply that a 'busa engine would be necessarily as low as $1k, but I have bought used R1 motor (with integrated sequential 6-speed tranny) for less than $1k delivered. Today's modern motorcycle engines are so powerful that I don't understand why you would want to go stock for just track days ... racing is different. Cheers.

Re: A REALLY Lightweight track car!

Grant thats cool. As for me, I would take this Lotus

I want a lightweight track car too!

I am at the stage of my life where I would like to have a track car. However, I hate to tow things, hence it has to be one where I can drive to the track. This is what I want! http://www.evo.co.uk/news/evonews/204295/ktm_xbow.html

Re: I want a lightweight track car too!

Grant, that's one helluva car. Imagine putting a Hayabusa TURBO engine in that!

If I would get a trackcar, it would be a Lotus Seven of some sort.
Cheap to buy (a used will run you 5.000-7.000Pounds) plus parts are very cheap and a new (MC)engine is about 500-1000Pounds.
It will run in circles around GT3s and cost a fraction.
Its not the most beautiful car out there, but seems to me its the most "sensible".
Get an old Ford Transit for transport and youre set.
