    997 Cabriolet

    Does anyone think that Porsche would release the new face-lift anytime this year, I intend to buy a new c4s cab in April but may be it would be better to hold on a bit based on the pics posted a few day ago. Advice please !!!

    My feeling is the facelift will show up very soon. Porsche jumped on the bandwagon for trendy styling details (tail lights) and now that requires that they keep up with the rapidly-changing trends in automotive styling. IMHO it's gonna be a clear break with the past.

    New models show up in September; that's my guess when the facelift will appear.

    Can you go Porscheless the entire summer? Sounds dreadful..., maybe just get the car and enjoy it.

    Porsche, contrary to some opinions, is not GM, or Ford, for that matter. The changes will occur in the MY09 cars, due out in the second half of 2008.

    Regardless, there will always be something just around the corner from Porsche. I can tell you that buying a Carrera 4S today will ensue that you survive to 2009!

    Logic says fall 08 for MY09.

    The facelift is minor except for the hp increase which they need right now already. But the targa just came out. And how about the not yet announced TT cab... Also no bluetooth and iPod... sad.

    I think Porsche is adopting "mass marketing" strategies and attitudes of these companies.

    Creating a buzz sells more cars and more of everything. If you have to taylor styling details to do so, then so be it.

    Me personally..., I've decided it's an illusion to believe Porsche is still really on our (the car enthusiast's) side. They certainly would like it if we kept up our loyalty; but will do nothing to reciprocate and reward us for feeling that way. It's just cold harsh business practices now that they've become "successful."

    I gotta feeling, "burning" us current and future owners with a new program of frequent facelifts is no longer a consideration in the upper floors of Porsche management.

    It appears to be the case. Their CEO didn't get to be the most prized CEO in the world by having loyalty to a bunch of consumers. Even if they didn't count on repeat customers they would do just fine.

    My perception about all this is that Porsche wants to try to keep up with its rivals, look at BMW M3 whioch will be out in a few months, it boosts 400bhp, Audi RS4 414bhp, at the same time they are cheaper than a 911, agreed the drive of a 911 is different, but the more power you have the more torque the car produces, the more thrills for the driver

    I would go with the 997 because I don't like the exterior "improvements" on the spy pics. The 997 is just right for me. The hp increase probably won't be huge anyway. Buy now, enjoy now.

    The "S" makes a lot of sense if you start putting some options that are standard on the S vs the base model.
