    Boxster on Autoweek

    Re: Boxster on Autoweek

interesting, looks like the rear wheels are larger than the front ones...

also same items as on the 997s.

    cool!

It could make sense because it's not like you can rotate the tires front to back anyway, so 18"s on front, and 19"s on rear would be nice...

    Re: Boxster on Autoweek

I personally do not want 19" wheels on the car - there are no R compound tires available from Hoosier, and none are planned for the immediate future. If they do make 19's available, I hope it is as an option.

More disturbing is their comment that the S will remain at 3.2L and gain only 10 HP. I am sincerely hoping that they are wrong in that respect. To remain even remotely competitive, they need to go to at least 3.4L and near 300 HP. If they are as low as 270 HP on the new car, I may reconsider my order and find a nice used 914-6 with a 3.6L 993 engine.

Looks good. I just hope it does NOT have oval lights

Well don't expect 300hp real soon. The day the regular 997 has ~360 base HP, then the Boxster S might have 300hp.

PS - If the 19" wheels are a problem, you could always get specific 17" or 18" track wheels if you want to run race rubber.

It does not have oval lights. They are not going to make the same mistake again and make the boxster look too much 911. It is hard to see in this pic, but the lights are a smoother version of the former boxster lights. (see pic) What surprises me, is that it has the directiona;s in the grille, just like the 911.

    Re: Boxster on Autoweek

Somewhere I read that Porsche AG wanted to make significant changes to the Boxsters design, so that it ressembled more the CarreraGT (since the SLK looks pretty much like the SLR) but I dont see any CarreraGT lines in the Boxster...yet!

    Re: Boxster on Autoweek

A little PS job done by myself. This is how the new Boxster will look alike from the front. I guess most of you guys can get an idea from this PS job, at least I hope so.

    Re: Boxster on Autoweek

Yep, at least I do. That was exactly the same as I thought. Only, I think you can leave the orange undesride of the lights. From what we know now, the directionals are in the bumper.

    Re: Boxster on Autoweek

Depending on what they do on parking brakes etc, it is possible that one might not be able to change from 19" wheels to a smaller wheel. I ran into this on an 03 Viper, and that was one of the main reasons I only owned it for 6 months.
