    Rev Codes for X51

I have done an extensive search on this forum and others and keep coming up blank. If the information I have found is accurate, the rev codes for a standard 997/997S are:

    Range 1: 7300-7500 RPM
    Range 2: 7500-7700 RPM
    Range 3: 7700-7900 RPM
    Range 4: 7900-8400 RPM
    Range 5: 8400-9500 RPM
    Range 6: 9500-11000 RPM

Does anyone have rev codes for an engine with the X51 kit? My rev limiter doesn't even kick in until just past 7500 RPM.

I am also curious as to what RPM the rev limiter kicks in on both a 997 and non X51 997S?

    Thanks!

    Re: Rev Codes for X51

Are you sure that the X51 mod changes the redline on the engine?

No, I am not sure. I asked my salesman what the red line was for the X51 997S (the tach reads 7200 RPM like a normal 997S) but he was unable to find the answer. My rev limiter kicks in just as I pass 7500 RPM. The normal 997S produces peak hp at 6600 RPM whereas the X51 997S produces peak hp at 7200 RPM.

At what RPM does the rev limiter engage in a normal 997S?

When traffic and road conditions allow (which is often given my rural mountain location) I routinely shift above 7300 RPM (love the sound). Am I triggering a Stage 1 over rev? My logic tells me I am not triggering anything until I hit the rev limiter.

    7200RPM

    7200RPM

I believe it is 7400 rpm if in sport mode.

    Re: Rev Codes for X51

AFAIK it is 7200rpm in a normal 997S (both normal and sport mode) and with X51 it goes to 7300rpm.

That's strange that your X51 is limited to only 7300 RPM as mine will go just past 7500 RPM before it will hit the rev limiter. I don't have Sport Chrono and experience the same hard cut out in the first five gears; I don't know what happens in 6th. It was my understanding that Sport Chrono does change the type of cut out in the higher gears but as you say not the rev limit.

Still looking for those X51 Rev Codes.

    you might try renntech.org.
my x51 doesnt cut out until after 7500 as well, and the x51 is supposed to rev higher.

    Re: Rev Codes for X51

I don't have X51 yet, just a regular 997 C2S. I was simply passing on info which I had read from a Porsche brochure. But you guys actually have X51 so I will believe whatever you have experienced in reality.

This is about the best I can do.

If you are considering adding the power kit to your existing car I don't think you will be disappointed but I only have about 15 laps around Barber Motorsports in Birmingham, Alabama during a two day PDE in a standard 997S with PCCB's so I would have a difficult time doing an accurate comparison between a normal 997S and a X51 kit 997S.

The vast majority of our track laps were done in a base 997 and the difference between the base 997 and a normal 997S with PCCB's was dramatic but once again not a fair comparison owing to the fact that one car had PCCB's and the other didn't. If I had to limit my options, PCCB's would be at the top of my option list.

I have read many of your legal posts (which I thought were excellent) and would be interested in hearing your review after the fact as you would have a much better basis to compare the two than I.

Thanks jerrygee. I hope one day to do the X51 upgrade and I'm sure I'll post some feedback here
