    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

    RC:

Lars, this is why I think Porsche needs the 960. I do not think it would be a good idea to stop the 911 or even change it completely but Porsche needs to offer alternatives. The 911 GT2 RS is no alternative to the 911...it is still a 911...for basically double the money. Smiley

That's what I'm implying. They also need it to justify to build cars for 200 to 350k€. Increasing that 911 price to the current craziness is sick already, but a 960 could easily justify. And as they have this fantastic platform of the Lambo/R8 in the house, it not only make sense it is almost a must do produce one.

You will have very fond memories of Tony, buddy Smiley. You will never forget that butch, rugged, manliness howl of that V10. Definitely a car for the hairy kind Smiley..

I didn't mean my R8 has to go... Smiley Audi is rumored to have stopped R8 development for the next generation because VW apparently wants to keep the Huracan only and add the "960" to the mix. I understand, it makes more sense.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

i have finally decided to forsake my GT2RS allocation (which is 99.9% assured) and wait for the 488GTO instead. the main reason is that i do not want to invest in 911s anymore. i really like my GT3RS but - for me -the 458speciale would have been the much better choice and i do not want to make the same mistake twice. the price of the GT2RS is really outrageous for what the car is, namely as somone here has put it - a GT3RS with a modified turbo S engine. the GT3RS has at least a natural aspirated engine, but the GT2RS is really of no use to me. it seems not even a financially secure investment (but i may be wrong on that). ferraris just convey much more feeling to me. btw, today  i drove through maranello and committed the maximal sin: i parked my GT3RS infront of the ferrari factory:::))) incidentally i got a lot of thumbs-up from ferrari employees coming back from their lunch breaks. i saw two 488GTO mules, it got me really excited:::))))IMG_3392.JPG

::::)))) meanwhile the GT3RS will keep me entertained rather well. today we did 500km of boring highway/city drive in the car and somehow it kept me entertained and my wife was not too much bothered by the noise. good!

No, not for me.I'm done with Porsche! In Stuttgart you can be pretty sure that the driver is working for Porsche. Smiley Also - if you see more Porsche than Hyundai on the street - you know what to drive if you want to own a "special" car. Smiley

i was just offered a 2013 speciale with 8K km for under 300K. those high prices are wishful thinking.

no GT2RS bashing on my side. i just find it too expensive for a 911 and not enough added value relative to my GT3RS. certainly buyers will be happy with the car. btw, my GT3RS oil consumption has dramatically decreased now that i have exceeded 10K km.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

I would be careful with the "offers" on exotic cars. Miller also has a manual 612 same as mine "offered" at $400k... I would sell for $300k without even blinking... 5 years ago you could have bought one easily for less than $100k.

I've also put deposit for the GTO. It's time to put the 991 to rest. I still insist that the GT2 RS will be a free ride and it will be offered only to VIP clients. But from the driver's perspective there are more exciting cars on the market. And judging from the GTB, the GTO will be crazy.

    i agree.

my porsche dealer is the second in vienna and he called me today to know my decision on the GT2RS. he said that he will surely get three cars (of the first batch). the bigger vienna dealer will get at least six. he (number 2) got zero R's, the big dealership got 1. that tells you something about total numbers. i am afraid the GT2RS will not be a 'rare' car.

But from the driver's perspective there are more exciting cars on the market. And judging from the GTB, the GTO will be crazy.

i hope so....surely the design will beat the 911 boredom by far.
