If one had to make generalizations regarding describing the

owners of the Enzo, CGT and MB SLR what would they be. Here are my thoughts.

Enzo...a collector whose primary interest is to own a rare car which would appreciate now and over time. He/she would not be into driving it often or race it. The ownership would be very similar to owning a fine work of art which hangs on the wall and occasionally allowed for public viewing.

MB SLR... the owner's primary interest is comfort, uniqueness, speed and substantial sport car characteristic's. Ease of driving yet endowed with incredible torque make it a great car to take cruising and be able to outgun 99% of the cars on the road. Perfect for the gentleman wearing a sport jacket and slacks.

Porsche CGT...the owner of this car sole interest is performance; on the road, track and highways. This person is typically a Porsche diehard enthusiast who wants the best Porsche has to offer. Comfort, uniqueness and exclusivity are secondary. The owner will drive this car and not concern him/her self with resale value. It is all about owning the ultimate performing PORSCHE.

Re: If one had to make generalizations regarding describing the

I fit perfectly in that third category.

I fit perfectly in the third category too but I have a tiny little problem: the necessary money.

Hey, Nick...your posts are getting better and better...are you ill or something? Or is your wife posting under your Username?

Re: If one had to make generalizations regarding describing the

Yeah, sign me up for group three, please. My dream is to put 100,000 miles a year on a CGT ... or a 911, for that matter.

By the way, I was at Sears Point last month for the Ferrari Challenge races and a someone had his Enzo out during the club hot laps. Sadly, he was only doing "lukewarm" laps, so we only got to hear the exhaust for about half a second as he came out of turn 2.

I guess he fits in Group one, as you suggest.

Re: If one had to make generalizations regarding describing the

100.000 miles might be a bit difficult but 20.000 shouldn't be out of reach.
And we only have a 6 month season here.
You wouldn't want to have snow chains on your CGT although it is possible on the rear wheels if you want to.

Re: If one had to make generalizations regarding describing the

    CF,
In the part of Texas in which I live, we can count on mild weather 360 days a year. So all I'd have to do is plan my schedule to put about 300 miles a day on the car, which should only take me a couple of hours on these wild roads out here.

I think that would be a good project!

Now, now, RC, you know that my post are better so long as I remain neutral regarding Porsche.

I had my Cayenne yet again in for service and instead of taking a Cayenne loaner, I decided to once again try the Boxster. I must acknowledge but for the feminine notoriety it a terrific little sport car. As I was driving it home, I began to think what would it be like if it had 400 more hp, bigger brakes and a racing suspension. It would be a mind blowing experience and far out of my league.

The CGT is a very special car especially for those who are into performance. I am only sorry Porsche does not build a car in between. There are many of us who would seriously consider buying it and Porsche can make a lot of money.

The reality is the 911 is long in the tooth and should in my view be moth-ball-ed. OOps there I go again.

The 911 is NOT long on the tooth. Repeat NOT. If you think that, it means you never understood the concept, as you prefer mid-engine designs, and it's fine.

Your first post is stereotyping, but it actually is quite accurate. Cheers!

    ADias,

I don't think you have been following Nick's posts for very long.........

Re: If one had to make generalizations regarding describing the

Always interesting to hear Ferrari owners described in this way, bit of a stereotype - perhaps it's true, it's the old "poseur" critique. I remember when the air cooled owners claimed that most 996 owners were poseurs - bit tougher to make that argument after the GT2, GT3, GT3-RS, etc etc. I must run with the wrong crowd, because all the Ferrari owners I know fall into one of 3 categories: track a street Ferrari; own and track a Challenge car; race or track a non-Ferrari. I would choose an Enzo over the CGT and SLR - for the money, though, I'd choose a 333SP or a 962 over all the street machines.

    Cheers, Will

I really dont understand what you mean by this post....
If an MR2 had 400 more hp, bigger breaks and a better suspension, then it too would be menacing. I mean, virtually any rear engined car would be nice with things like that. (by virtually, i wouldnt be so bold as to say a old model beetle, but you know what i mean).

Ruf makes a nice little Boxster, the R3600S, with a tuned 996 engine and all the name Ruf implies.

All the horsepower and street cred you need and I'll bet you'd never see yourself coming down the street in San Diego.

I was referring to the CGT. Also when I wrote "out of my league" the reference was to driving ability and getting the the most out of the car.

Re: If one had to make generalizations regarding describing the

    Ah, i see now

(i'd imagine that that car is way out of mine as well...)
