997 Turbo - Powerkit
There is also a very good chance that the powerkit will NOT be retrofittable...unfortunately.

Latest rumor: 997 Turbo Powerkit is coming (as we suspected a while ago), estimated power is 510-515 HP, slightly below the power figure of the upcoming 997 GT2 (rumored 520-530 HP). No availability date known yet but rumors indicate summer or autumn 2007, maybe even earlier.

30 extra HP on a 480 Hp car does not seem very much , specially if it will be sold at the usual powerkit price
Will it include some other goodies ?

Maybe they will improve the exhaust with the powerkit. Yesterday I was behind one in my mini and it sounded very whimpish. I just don't know why they castrated the car.

This is one of the few times I can say I agree with you wholeheartedly.
20hp can be explained by just an exhaust. I bet it is an exhaust and some "fluff" updates (i.e. bogus) that serve absolutely no function but help justify a huge price. Then again, these cars aren't targeted to bargain-hunters

I sincerely doubt it. Just look at the old X50. Reinforced transmission, bigger intercoolers, bigger turbochargers. It will still hold back the BMW M6 even today. The Turbo powerkit will be expensive, but I can guarantee you that it won't just be the exhaust. It will probably be as moddabl as the old X50 was. Slap on a good exhaust and an ECU upgrade and the car will be making close to 600 bhp. And if what Kreso had stated before is true, the engine will be bored out to 3.8 litres.

Not retrofittable? That's a tragedy! What about all the existing TT owners out there? They would have had a captive market.

Looks like all the good stuff (PDK/PK) will only be coming a year or so after the actual car. I wonder what happens to the Tip .

My guess is that, after one puts a new chip in, adds a new exhaust, and spends a lot of time in shops, etc., that one would spend very close to the price of the powerkit. I had such an experience with my modified 996TT.

I am sorry but if these numbers are true and real, it is plain ridiculous to buy that package for only 30 hp more, .

You are missing the big picture. Higher top speed, much better acceleration, bigger intercoolers and a reinforced gearbox. Probably bigger displacement as well. Chip THAT and then talk about how it isn't worth it .
