Well, can't contribute much to girl names oder names for a sports car...
But the extract of the interview (AB Sportcars 8/2017) with Audi Sport CEO Stephan Winkelmann:
according to his statement there will be no Turbo V8 or similar for the R8. On the other hand there will be different performance variants for the V10. This can be interpreted in both directions, at the first place increasing performance (for sure), but also a more tame version of the V10 would be possible.
More remarkable is his statement that the V10 will remain the right engine for the R8. For me this means that the R8 will have no future and will probably be sacrificed for a Porsche 960, as Christian had already written it correctly.
So we're still at the same point: bye, bye R8 sooner or later

The latest Auto Motor und Sport also mentions that VW miay not want the R8 anymore because the Lamborghini Huracan sells already at 75% R8 capacity and the 911 sells in one year better than the whole production of the previous R8 generation.

Did my first laps with the new R8 on SPA-Francourchamps. As part of the curbstone track days we were able to drive 1 hour on the track just before the start of the 24hrs in SPA. It was great to drive for such a big crowd! Compared to the "old R8" the new one is much easier to drive on the track. Drove the care in "dry" race mode with the traction control off. This was the first time for me to drive on the race track with traction control off. After a few laps I went a few times over the limit and let the care slide. Was very easy to get back and not too snappy at all. The Porsche winter training paid of ! I was not too impressed by the Michelin Cup 2 tires, there were a lot of cars on the track and I had to go of the ideal line a few times. Because of the soft tires they picked up a lot of dirt and rubber. Anyway fun day very nice car on the track and Audi won the 24 hrs in SPA!
PS: At the Mercedes stand was a E 63 AMG and a AMG GT C50, very aggressive looking car the E 63 AMG. Also at BMW the was a preview of the new M5 (was not allowed to take pictures). The M5 is much more modest compared to the Mercedes but I like it perhaps even more!
We had a C63 AMG S Coupe convertible during our vacation here in Mallorca/Spain. Wonderful car, sound is amazing, just about right for a convertible. Why "had"? Well, somebody hit the car while exiting the parking lot and damage is so severe that the rental company took it back. They had only one car, so we are driving a Mercedes C class coupe convertible now as well but a Diesel. Looks very nice though (see photo).
My wife loved the AMG a lot but she would only get one if it has AWD (she had a M3 convertible and in Bavarian winters, the car was almost impossible to drive in snow).
Our Diesel replacement...

Great, thank you. Didn't have much to do with Sixt recently, quite an impressive selection of cars. And actually quite reasonable price for that car.
SciFrog:Diesel convertible? Really they make that?
Yeah...absurd but a reality. Feels more powerful than it actually is (typical Diesel) but sounds like crap.

Lars997:The AWD was turning us from the C63 to the C43. I hope in the next generation they are able to offer AWD.
Other than that - the car is really fun and was a great companion now for the last 9 months!
How is the exhaust sound? I heard the last gen A45 AMG (a friend of ours bought it for his 18 year old son ) recently and it sounds worse than the 718 generation.
My wife actually wanted to keep the 991.1 C4 Cab but remaining value seems to be too high, we'll see.
She said that if I take a GLC63 (AWD), she is going to get the C63 Cab. Could be an interestimg double deal for our local Mercedes dealer.
Next 911 (992) Cab gen could also be interesting but I think it is too expensive for my wife (company car).

C43 has great sound, V6 Bi-Turbo sounds different than A45 AMG 4 Cylinder, especially if you order AMG Performance exhaust!
Oh right...I forgot that the A45 has a different (4-cyl.) engine.
I listened to a C43 sedan yesterday (Mercedes used car dealership had open day) and it sounded better than anticipated (and better than A45) but still not want I want. C63 sounds way better (they had a used C63 S sedan as well for comparison) and that farting noise the C43 makes is a little bit embarrassing.
Wouldn't be a deal breaker though since the C43 Cab would be my wife's car.
Right now we are thinking about getting the C63 S cabriolet for my wife and the GLC63 S AMG for myself. In winter, when there is snow or when my wife needs a car for skiing, she can drive my GLC and I drive her C63 cab. This is the plan right now but of course a lot can change, also depending on the offer she gets for my current 991.1 C4 GTS Cab (she loves this car and is thinking of buying it). Unfortunately I think the remaining value is going to be too high for her, so she is going with the Mercedes (business lease, no buying).

You buy the 63 for the sound and the 43 for the usability. No doubt, the V8 is the engine you like to hear. Also - not sure if that C43 at your dealer had the Sport Exhaust. It is actually very loud.
If you get a C43 get the Brabus box. Ours made on the Dyno 452 HP - very impressive machine. The only thing which I don't like - I think I feel that Turbo too much. It always takes a quarter of a second until the car responses. But - on the Autobahn it is ridiculously fast. Not sure if a 991 Carrera is really faster, probably above 250km/h but not between 120 and 250.
