This question is for the Spaniards on this board.
I may have to relocate to Madrid for my work for several years and if this is the case, I will need to take a decision on what to do with my C2S.
Would you recommend selling it or bringing it with me?
My concerns:
- I have -20mm (no offense to the roads)
- I do not speak the language (and therefore will be more difficult to find my way around to park etc)
- I will live in the city center
- I will have a company car
- I will have no clue where to drive to have fun over week-ends
Any input is welcome
Hello jeannot !, sorry for the little delay, but my dosis of rennteam are reduced, because of the exams
I think you wont have too many problems with the -20mm suspension, except when entering some subterranean parkings, and may be some roads in "construction"
, I say this, because Madrid is from a year or two a city surrounded by new constructions projects, specially new roads, motorways etc....Anyway, things have been much worse than now (specially some months back, due to the traffic of this roads(in production) and because of the poor situation of them....In a few months, the most important constructions of roads etc, will be finally finished, so if you come in the next months that will be an extra point for you, because you have not suffered all the traffic jams, and very poor conditions of the roads that where in process of construction
.....
Madrid is a GREAT city, I come from Mallorca, and have been living here for some years now(studying here), and its a very big city, lots of places to go (I would say its unlimited
, the night life is just also amazing, madrilian food and generally spanish food as you have already heard(I hope
) is just the best of the best !!
, there are lots of GREAT restaurants, very typical spanish restaurants, and not necessary very expensive!!......
Regarding the language, spanish is not that hard, in fact I can say you all the people(specially some friends that have come to live here for a year or more due to their studies, they have learned a very high level of spanish, without knowing a thing)...Anyway I could give you some extra teaching classes, if the situation is required!
So well roads in madrid are getting re-constructed(those that where very deteriorated), and like I said in a "little"period of time they will be finished...Lots of subterranean tunnnels have also been constructed in the center of madrid, another hard time for all of us, while they have been in period of construction
....
If you are going to live in the city center, with a company car, I would highly bring the Carrera S here
, specially for the weekends, exploring the outsides of madrid, like Carlos said la Sierra Madrileña, the mountains roads, the area of Buitrago de Loyoza(roads full of curves
), there are so many places I havent drived !!!!
The city center, as you can imagine, is probably the best place to live, also its one of the moest expensive areas, lots of "old" buildings that have been reconstructed and turned into new apartments, but also lots of old buildings, that still maitain their glamour
The situation here in Spain, and specially in Madrid and Barcelona, regarding driving fines, police radars etc, is not that nice, specially since we adopted the "new"(to us), driving license by points, every driver has literally taked things more easy, everyone drive more slowly, you get more nervious etc etc etc
, but anyway, with the time, I think people have returned to their traditions, and everyone in here drives like a maniac, too frenetic driving, too much people dont know how to drive
, but anyways this happens in all cities
There is also the track , Jarama circuit, located a few minutes outside of the center, where you can go and have some fun....There are two official porsche dealers (one in avenida burgos, which will be more near your home, well future home if you come here and finally live in the center). And the other one, in Majadahonda (which is where I more or less live),and this one is the dealer we go
, located about 10-15mins outside of the city center...Also a very nice place to live!!
Dont worry for parking signs!!!, the city center is just FULL of them !!!!, in the most important streets, you will hardly find a space to park your car, and even less , one suitable for the carrera S
...
Oh one more things, there has been lots of negative feedback of restaurants here in Madrid with vallet service, lots of porsche's have been stolen...Also there are some organisations, specialised in the thief of luxury cars, but again this is more or less something that is in all places...
Well I think that's it for now
, if you have more questions, just ask !
Oh btw!!!, if you like football!!, oh well, sorry.....If you LOVE football and like Real Madrid, this is your city!!!
