    Re: New 997 pics

You know why you guys hate the interior, because it doesn't harmonize with the exterior like the 996 does. The exterior is all sexy curvey and the 996 interior was just like that, now the interior is all boxy and straight lined. But I'm sure it will grow on us, and anyway, like we have a choice. I welcome the old door pulls, but would rather have the gun trigger pulls of old.

    Re: New 997 pics

If you tell me thats the new A3's interior I would not doubt you for a second, its all so flat, square, plain and spartan... typical Audi interior.

Those wheels are horrible--a 10 lug bolt look. Here's a spy pic of the optional "beautiful wheel" shown here in 18", but to be available in 19" as well...!!!

    Re: New 997 pics

I find those new wheels really good looking.
    Just my two cents.

    Re: New 997 pics

    Great Pics

I too like the outside, but the inside doesn't impress me. The wheels...not sure how I like them yet either.
    Thanks for posting J.Seven

    Re: New 997 pics

    J. Seven

Thanks! My favorite pictures so far.

    Re: New 997 pics

Thanks to J. Seven!!! Great Shots! In yellow the car looks fantastic (i know it because i've seen it at the ring).

    Re: New 997 pics

This is a final production car, look the phone on the dash board, is covered with plastic, take the mask out and you have the final car

    Here's couple of pics

    Re: New 997 pics

And the tiny litlle thing in front on the headlights are still there, so it might be indeed the light washers

    Re: New 997 pics

Yupp - this is a car from the line production - completley ready to be shipped!

A friend of my is component supplier for the new 997. He told me, that they started line production in the first week of April - still in fewer lots, but soon (VERY SOON) increased to the complete lot!

Only couple of days till the official presentation....

    L@rs

YOU KNOW WHAT.... This new car will be gorgeous as it looks so the same like the old one.... wich already was gorgeous

    Re: New 997 pics

Quite possible the best looking 911 of the last 20 years
    *shivers*
I just have to say this again, GORGEOUS!

    Re: New 997 pics

Oh boy, I don't want to be in the driver's skin right now.
I'm not sure but I'm almost positive that he wasn't supposed to drive home in this car. It is too late to cover up the license plates but I'm sure Porsche won't like this picture.

And yes, the interior NOT camouflaged at all...this is IT!

Don't worry guys, final pictures will be available soon.

Another thing: the car on the picture seems to be a 997 C2 (not the "S") with 19'' wheels and PCCB.

How about the stupid gauge at the top of the dash Seems to come from the 300 store round the corner

    Re: New 997 pics

Am I the only one that finds the interior of the 997 a design evolution of the classic 911 interior?
I mean, come on, it has almost the same design cues, only updated.

    Re: New 997 pics

i think the interior echos the straight lines of the 993. pretty smart but can see it getting dated quickly.

I don't want to spoil your enthusiasm guys but the interior of the 997 looks pretty close to the Cayenne interior.
    I owned a 993 Targa and I can't see any similarity.
BUT...the 997 is a beautiful 911, I'd even say it is the most beautiful 911 ever built. Just wait until you see the official pictures soon! Especially the "S" is a masterpiece.

    Re: New 997 pics

Some official "preliminary" pics were available a while ago for certain people. I was just allowed to throw a longer look on two pictures. A lot of other people (dealers, employees of the Porsche organization, etc.) already have seen the 997 recently, the official press pictures will be available soon (this month). No, I don't work for Porsche but I wish I did. They have very enthusiastic people working there who are very proud of their brand. Welcome to Rennteam.com.

    Re: New 997 pics

The only 993 design theme that I see is the air vent. It's pure 993 and far more integrated than that "stuck on look" that the 996/Boxster design has.

    Re: New 997 pics

hi, wenn du schon zwei orginal bilder gesehen hast , sag mir doch bitte mal wie die 19 " felgen nun letztendlich wirklich ausschaun ? sind es die mit den vielen löchern oder . . . ?

    Re: New 997 pics

This new 911 looks extremely promising IMNSHO!
SUPER pics J Seven, thanks for sharing with us! Can't wait to see it in real

    Re: New 997 pics

I was expecting a more radical redesign.

    Re: New 997 pics

Hey RC, i know it's too early to tell but do you know if there's going to be a aerokit avaliable from the start??

    Woshhhh

i wouldn't think so, considering that the aerokits have generally be a retrofit of the GT3's spoilers onto a base carrera body (ie. MK1/MK2 996 GT3/Cup Aerokits)

one would assume the aerokit would only be availible when the appropriate 997 GT3 version became availible.

not only in the sense that they wouldnt want to reveal the design of the parts before the GT3's arrival, but also perhaps they havent been designed/etc yet.

    Re: New 997 pics

    Good thinked Moogle.

Compared to this 997, I think the 996 will become a classic.
The 997 is basically a rework of the 993, after complaining customers wished for the old 993 style once they saw the new 996.

The 996 styling whether ugly or sexy, is more pure than this 997. The 996 styling was in the least, someone's idea of how a 911 should evolve whether good or bad, it was pure.

The fact that the 997 looks like this will I think definitely improve the 996's values in years to come. I hated the 914 when it first came out, now I love it, b/c it was so specially different in its desigin, which is what the 996 was and really, what the 911 design philosophy was all about to begin with.

Truly I think Porsche is taking a step backwards with this model. When the 998, 999 or future models come out, I don't see us revering this 997 model 10 yrs from now, as much as we are with the 993 now or as much as we would be the 996 in a few years.

I am sure most of you are extremely happy right now with this design, but its truly a "manufactured design", as are many designs today, see also 2005 Mustang, and tons of reto designs which seem to be the norm out there.

Bangle may be odd with his designs at BMW, but wasn't the 911 design also odd back in 1964? That is what makes the 911 great.

Amen to everything you said (although I really hate Mr. Bangle).

About that round watch on top of the dash: If that is a standard on every 911, then I will hate that car and turn away from Porsche entirely. No kidding.

For 997 owners, I too sure hope that isn't just a clock...that would be lame. It looks to intricate to be just a clock though.

    Re: New 997 pics

judging from the image (which is hard to work with, even highly zoomed)

    the best guesses are

    1. clock (makes the most sense... but why do away with the digital one in the instrument cluster... -also cheesy)

    2. analog compass. (completely pointless and very toyota land cruiser-esque. if its a compass, that would completely piss me off. soooooooooo utterly cheesy)

it also looks very 'stuck on' much like an afterthought. - either it is part of the testing gear (which doesnt seem so, since much of the rest of the interior is very much uncamoflauged and production looking) - it would seem to be very removable if it were indeed part of the production car.

anyone notice the plastic covered phone... - i hope thats an option...

    Re: New 997 pics

That clock-looking thingy will make someone lots of money in well finished parts used to remove it cleanly
Assuming it is a clock, that is

    Re: New 997 pics

Seeing that this steering wheel have no buttons, assumes me that multifunction steering will be an extra.... WOW - a hundered thousand Euro car and 50 cent buttons costs 500 Euro extra....
