The 992 is not a facelift. By perfect I meant it looks maybe a little bit too refined, too "clean", too stylish, too...perfect.

Difficult to explain but perfection csn sometimes be boring.

    Like the new Panamera Smiley

Indeed. Beautiful car, I love it whenever I see it but I would never get one for whatever (weird?) reason.

VW Group needs to be careful not to add the same design language to all their brands and models because at some point, this is more than boring. Smiley New Audi and VW models are already awfully close to each other, very very risky.

General Motors tried that in the 1980's and it certainly didn't work well for them,

    Gauss:

The curves of the car will surely look harder, edgier. You can see the evolution on the facelift of the GT3 too, if you look at the rear bumper for example. The curves have very small curvature radii.

It's the same design language like the new Audi R8, which shows the new trend very obviously.

That's actually the problem with the 991.2 GT3 facelift.  The sharper curves in the front and rear bumpers do not at all match the flowing and softer curves of the 991 body.

I think that's a valid criticism, but I can forgive the new changes since they are there for a purpose (better downforce and cooling without adding drag).

And while committing some sins of its own, the new design erases one sin of the previous design (the overlapping "eyebrow" front driving lights).

Hey RC, you said the headlights will be smaller!!! How about this? One more thing. I´m not a fan of the optional dual headlamp (LED) on the current 911. The new 911 will still provide a single headlamp version right?

This 992 seems to look much more radical. I hope the drive will be going the same way.

It will look a bit more aggressive, indeed but the drive will be typical 911.

All 911's have some similar driving characteristics, but the driving is certainly quite different from generation to generation and I expect some changes here as well (especially as it's the first 911 platform to be shared with other VW brand relatives).

The future 911 range will exclusively use turbocharged six-cylinder engines when it lands in 2019, including the GT3, marking the end of naturally aspirated units for the line-up.

I believe it, when I see it.

if they go hybrid in the 992, the weight penalty will be at least 250lbs. Not sure they can slim down the rest of the car to make that up.

What exactly is the hybrid technology? Is it electric motors in conjunction with turbo, or can they do without turbo?

Re: 992 (Next 911 generation 2018/2019) Thread Closed

918 is doing it without Turbo.

Panamera is doing it with turbo and with different engine V6 & V8.

every possibility is feasible today including diesel engines but not at Porsche hopefully Smiley

They could of course do it with an NA engine, but the fact remains that they don't have any new NA engines. They'll do it with a turbo simply because they already have turbo engines.
