Porsche seems to keep the RS production numbers a secret yes

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

My guess is around 3-4000 max.

Cant remember exactly but I believe the US a bit more than 1000 sold, and Canada had just over 100, which is the norm, Canada gets 1/10 of the cars to the US. And USA normally have 1/3 of the production world wide.

But seriously the only one that cares are the people on Rennlist, cause they all bought the car for investment and wanted the value to stay up or go up. The other half of Rennlist don't have a car and wanted to pick one up for cheap and trying to trash the value of it by saying there are thousands and hundrends of thousands  of them floating around.

those are much more common sight than a GT3RS, what makes you think Porsche made more GT3RS than those?

The stupidity of the buyers... They thought the car is limited and then they bought many more than of unlimited cars like the regular turbo s etc. Smiley In fact, a regular turbo s Cabriolet might be much rarer than the new GT2RS. No kidding...

Smiley How many 991.1 C4 GTS Convertible did Porsche make? 1000? 1500? Maybe. Smiley

Exclusivity is not only about numbers. It is also if the car looks like every other manufacturer models. The GTS looks like all other 911's except for the GT models.

You can easily recognize a GTS model, the only 911 Carrera with CL. Also, the engine has 30 hp more and it isn't software only (n/a engine). Furthermore, you have that nice Alcantara combo with red stitching (or whatever color) and the GTS imprints in the seats. Very nice.

Value as a collectible? I doubt it, not now. Maybe in 20-30 years though.

Exclusivity about looks? the GT3 is the 911 were its value resides the least on its looks and the most on what you don't see on the outside, i.e. GT3 9k reving NA engine, sport PDK tranny, dynamic chasis setup, etc. the wing is there not to make it look different but to add to its dynamics further through aerodinamics.

I'm wondering, if the GT3 had no aerokit and it was the GTS that had the aerokit, would you have bought the GTS and not the GT3? Smiley

The only reason the GT3 sells so well is because people know it has good resale value... Who can say no to a free car for a year (expect me broken heart )?

i agree with you that wings look weird usually and i applaud ferrari for basically doing away with them on their road cars, maintaining better downforce values than GT porsches. however, i appreciate it on the GT3RS since otherwise it would just look like the millions of squashed beetles out there:::))))

Sounds like what the "expectation" was for the 991.1 GT3 RS which ended up being over 6000 units...

Porsche cannot sell 6000+ GT2RS at that price point.

And the GT3RS number wasn't over 6000 either.

Agree on the first. Pricing seems to be at a level to price out some of the speculators although over time this will have an impact on all of us as well (i.e. If pricing starts to rise across the board for GT cars).

on the second, two things. (1) a fairly extensive search online did not yield any fruit on this topic (which suggests it is a quite tightly held piece of information and I would not think Porsche / dealers are concerned about UNDERSTATING volumes right now so the concern is probably that the number is higher than commonly perceived!). (2) certain customers who have taken delivery of the R have had dealers validate this number as around 6000 units (for GT3 RS), and my suggestion is such customers are perhaps also amongst the best informed...

    True

However the R has a presence this does not have...

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

That is mostly because you know what an R is and this is not indecision

If you add the GT3 left/right air vents in the rear bumper, the slats in the front bumper and the air vent in the front hood then this Z would look as aggressive as an R. IMHO the car above has as much presence as an R, but it is softer and cleaner. I much prefer this front bumper to the R bumper.
