IMG_2063.JPGI came across this convoy in the South of France today. Difficult to get a good look as the Böblingen-van was there to block the view. First impression, nice proportions, more exotic looking than 992. Integrated light bar very cool in tunnels.

Or we could just say: It is wider and longer. Smiley

Yes, there is a bit more sculpting involved and the front lights are smaller than in the current generation. The rear will be adapted to the "new" look which will be standard on all Porsche cars.

Smaller yes but not tiny. Proportions are still OK. I've seen only sketches, so it is difficult to tell more about the real thing.

With some luck, I can take a closer look at a mule in a couple of months. If you are very close to the car, you can identify the proportions, at least better than from photos only. Interior isn't ready yet, it will be less sophisticated than in the Panamera but digital as well. The 911 makes another step "up", something some diehard 911 fans won't necessarily love. Smiley

Yes and it has to be longer (crash requirements, new assist tech, hybrid tech Smiley, etc.). Also a reason why it is wider (mostly tech related, the car doesn't really need to be wider).

Porsche has apparently "responded" to the demand for more assistive tech in the 911 and of course improved entertainment/infotainment. Wouldn't be surprised to see a low level of autonomous driving even on the 911 at some point. For example self-parking.

Please be aware that I am relying on rumors and third party information here, I am not part of the developing team (I know that Porsche officials are reading this stuff and sometimes laugh off their asses about the crap they read on the internet Smiley).

Porsche must have an entire design team dedicated to fugly camo. The rear can't possibly turn out like that. Not the first time the tried to fugly us.

If the 992 is the evolution of the 991 and the evolution is almost perfect, then that means, that it has to resemble the 991 a lot Smiley Just teasing. So what exactly do you mean by "the rear is going to be a bit too perfect" ?

Re: 992 (Next 911 generation 2018/2019) Thread Closed

That rear looks pretty close to final spec. You can see the camp on the lights and not to the exhausts but otherwise looks pretty final. Not sure if anyone more gifted than me can montage this next to / on top of a 991 to see if the line of the rear is higher?

The 992 is not a facelift. By perfect I meant it looks maybe a little bit too refined, too "clean", too stylish, too...perfect.

Difficult to explain but perfection csn sometimes be boring.

Indeed. Beautiful car, I love it whenever I see it but I would never get one for whatever (weird?) reason.

VW Group needs to be careful not to add the same design language to all their brands and models because at some point, this is more than boring. Smiley New Audi and VW models are already awfully close to each other, very very risky.

The curves of the car will surely look harder, edgier. You can see the evolution on the facelift of the GT3 too, if you look at the rear bumper for example. The curves have very small curvature radii.

It's the same design language like the new Audi R8, which shows the new trend very obviously.
