Back on the surround view discussion, I did some research and found--ignoramus that I am--that I have the standard rear view system on my 2015 Cayenne Turbo. Works just fine for me.
I know that one should probably not be concerned about a $1000 dollar option on a luxury vehicle like a Panamera, but I most likely would not order the surround view--just seems like a waste of my money...
Porsche should definitely offer the (free?) option to change the caliper color to red or yellow on the Turbo S.

Ferdie:They do...
Seriously? I didn't know. Good idea.
Update: I just checked...indeed...yellow calipers...optional for free.

lukestern:Panamera 4S diesel discontinued?
It's been removed from the Porsche website at least...
Yes, discontinued. No more Diesel in the Panamera and the next gen Cayenne could suffer the same fate as well.
Customers who already ordered the Diesel are usually getting the offer to exchange it, free of cost, with the model of their choice, incl. the Turbo. Not sure if this offer is valid for all markets but in Germany it seems to be the case.
Some cars will still make it to customers over the next couple of weeks (according to rumors), mostly cars which have already started production.

Thanks for info RC. Interesting to say the least. That decision came very quickly. Wonder how this will effect second hand market.
That also explains why my P dealer was so keen on moving the 3 Panamera 4S Diesel he had in stock...tying the allocation of the first 3 GT2 RS to the purchase of one of those.
Anyway, it was really just an ill-disguised money grab, I am convinced that the dealer organization at least had an inkling that this was coming and that they were going to lose a fair chunk of money on any remaining cars in stock...so they passed the buck to GT2 RS customers, effectively raising that car's price by an estimated €30-40K.
I have told them to take a hike and severed my over 15 year relationship with the dealer. Senior folks at HQ are now involved, but so far no tangible reaction. My business is about to go elsewhere!

Carlos from Spain:So they decide to p¡ss off their best customers just to keep the original sales margins of three 40k diesel Panameras they had? How moronic!!
My thoughts exactly.
We're at the point where you can be the fastest or just sound like you're the fastest.
The secret of life is to admire without desiring.

By next gen you mean the one that is around the corner in some weeks?
911tts:On the 1st of September new Cayenne will be presented officially (Porsche web).
Interesting, I thought it is going to be the IAA when they mentioned September... Thanks.

Wonderbar:Most recent Porsche press release says premiere is August 29 .
Even more interesting. I had only "September" a few weeks ago...but deliveries should not start before winter.
I'm also curious if this is going to be the first premium SUV on the market without any Diesel variant.
