    The C7's specs are pretty impressive considered the estimated pricetag (around the same as the C6 with Z51 package) and in respect to the fact that it's just the base-car:

    - 0-100 kph: under 4s

    - Vmax 310 kph

    - Nordschleife around 7:40 min

    (of course we have to wait for independent tests like the SA supertest)

    - Torque-curve up to 4000 rpm is identical to the 7-litre Z06

     

    The electrical power steering is the same ZF-system that is used in the 991. But I'm not sure if that's good news.

     

    And yes, here in germany the corvette has that "pimp"-criminals' car-image since the 1970s. That's why in reality (tv-) famous pimps always drove other cars. Some are even named after the cars they drove, i.e. "Lamborghini-Klaus" smiley

    I like the Corvette a lot but the image in Europe kind of sucks. Another issue is the price tag in EUR and of course the quality of the dealerships over here.

    Very impressing. And  I think it would have better acceleration numbers with 4wd. Should be in the range of 991.2 TTS or Audi V10 plus then.

    Would you seriously consider getting a stock Corvette as a track car? For regular sportscar fans, the Corvette is a good offer but I had my share of US cars lately, so I wouldn't get one anymore.

    well if you build a car with 660HP - things usually should last a bit......I don't have that experience but a friend who is very much into Z06's told me enough stories from his circle not to touch any of them.... - this shall not mean it;s a "bad" car - I would never judge People buying a GTR or a Mustang eighter indecision - maybe I should just have said : not German enough for me

    The base price on a 460hp C7 coupe with a detachable ''targa''roof panel is.. 55,450. for that you get a V8, a radio, a lot of plastic and AC that blows cold air in Death Valley.

    At 55k it is a low price sports car, so all options/power upgrades just make it a more expensive low price sports car.

    Steering is electric like Porsches now...

    The Grand Sport model (like Z06 without Supercharger) is the one to get for serious tracking.  In the US, it costs same as 4-cylinder Cayman.

    This is something I never understood...it would cost them maybe 1000 bucks production cost to raise interior quality to amvery high level but even the new Escalade we had, looked cheap inside because many parts were cheap platics, fake(?) wood (looked like a plastic wood imitation) and haptics were also subpar. Even compared to my wife's Macan, quite cheap looking and the Macan is one (quality) step below the Cayenne.

    GM sets a budget for interiors, the designers work with that and the vendors build what GM specs call for.  GM has no ambition to upstage Mercedes or Audi, besides if they did put in a excellent interior then the rest of the vehicle would seem badly built. broken heart 

    BTW some Cadillacs do have real wood and semi aniline leather, probably not on a rental fleet models. But even those with that still use crapo grade headliners, B pillar covers and other low end minor trim pieces.

    I believe the reliability issue with the C7 is seriously overstated. I have seen them on tracks and they held up as well as the European cars. As far as performance is concerned, the C7 spanked them all.kiss

    Exactly...Cup 2 ZP...basically a slick with a little bit of profile. Totally useless and basically undrivable when it is wet.

    Mercedes did the same "trick" with the GT R...

    ZP version of the Cup 2 is only available through the AMG Performance Studio.

    Still, considering the price tag, pretty good.

    I love it how the Porsches with much much less HP (which is.a must for the high speed NRing) and regular Corsas or regular Cups get right in there in the list.

    The Corvette is 400 pounds fatter than the GT3. Apparently it's the heaviest Corvette to date. I guess they could use different materials to lower that weight, but then the price would go up accordingly.
