Scratch on the back of my adaptive sport seat

Yesterday, my son accidentally scratched the back of the driver's side adaptive sport seat with a zipper that his pants have at the outside bottom part of the leg (makes me think who needs a zipper in that part of one's anatomy). Anyways, I knew this was going to happen some day but didn't expect it to be this soon. The scratch is about 2.5 inches long and very thin (lucky me!). Do any of you know of any way of fixing this or have any recommendations? Is this something that an automotive interior specialist might be able to match? Any help is immensely appreciated as I have a feeling this might not be the last time for me and some other owners might have experienced it or will experience it at some point in their ownership. Had their backside been covered in leather, it would have been easy to fix.

Tough break on the zipper lay out. Who would have thought? Interested to hear the replys as I anticipate similar situations.

Re: Scratch on the back of my adaptive sport seat

just to share your pain, the backs of my adaptives are also scratched up here and there with fine stuff, quite annoying, they should have been covered from the factory with leather or vinyl...

Covered by leather is an option from the factory. If you didn't get adaptive seats then the entire seat is covered by leather.

Re: Scratch on the back of my adaptive sport seat

I am pretty sure that the fine print on the bottom of one page in the driver's manual states that women are not to wear knickers OR panties when inside a Porsche. I can't remember the page no - it might be the one after P68

Re: Scratch on the back of my adaptive sport seat

I'm sure the scratch can be repaired EASILY. The seat backs are plastic (not metal) and paints today are verrry forgiving. Your job is to find the right specialty shop; one that has got the correct procedure.

Meanwhile I would just try to forget about it until the next scratch, get a few of them, then do all at once. Check around local Porsche shops for a recco. Find them in PCA regional publications.

Mine got scratched too, by my children and once when having luggage in the back

I decided to let go..as their will be more unless I NEVER have my children in the back and I NEVER put any luggage back there....

Yeah, sadly I agree. It's called "normal wear and tear."

When you want to restore the car in ten years, or want to sell the car yourself (yuk!) then fix it. Trade in? Just leave it alone, they have ways of fixing stuff like that quick and dirty.

Re: Scratch on the back of my adaptive sport seat

I use Paint Cleaner from Mercedes Benz product that effectively remove any shallow scratches. You can buy this product in any MB dealer.

Re: Scratch on the back of my adaptive sport seat

Oh, just thought of this: PERHAPS there's a paragraph in the owner's manual materials where they describe how to remove gum from carpet, which wax to use, how to deal with ball point pen on leather..., you know..., do we have one of those pamphlets? Maybe there's a section on how to deal with minor scratches in the plastic trim?!
