    Are we going to see a C4S a la 993 and 996?

    The past two incarnations of the 911, the 993 and 996, have both produced a C4S that was a turbo body and other options from the turbo, but a naturally aspirated engine. With the 997 the Carrera is broken down between S and non S, thus making the C4S already a model before the 997 Turbo even came out. Now I do know that the 997 C4S is a little wider, but it is not taking the same path for sure as what a 993 C4S and 996 C4S were. Are we going to see a C4S in the traditional sense, and if so, what will it be called?

    Hopefully not, the old "C4S" didn't make sense in P lineup, plus the red stripe... so 80s. It would make even less sense in today's lineup with the "s" and non "s" lines.

    Plus they need to keep the distinction ot the TT from normal models. And P should concentrate on getting the facelift out there rather than introducing yet another model.

    I must say I really liked the red stripe on the 996 4S, to me this is the best looking 996

    Maybe at the end of the 997's life, you'll see a special edition that will look like the 996c4s. You have to keep in mind that the car was introduced in 2002, just after the facelift was released. So you might see a "997c4s a la 996" in 2009.

    It's also important to note that the 996c4s was a huge success. Porsche won't have forgotten that when 997 sales figures start to slow down. Porsche don't want to release such a car now because by experience, they know that customers who were ready to buy the turbo went for the cheaper 996c4s because all they wanted was the turbo look on their 911. So if the car will be released, it won't be before a few years. My guess would be 1 year and half before the end of the 997 series.

    We'll see.

    No one has commented on the 993 C4S. Don't forget that this has been a model for two generations and is for prople that don't care about the power of a turbo, but want some of the other options like the body, different bumpers, etc. I think this still would fit into the 997 lineup as there currently is not a true 997 C4S. Does anyone know what plans are for this? No rumors?

    That makes it two of us. I saw a silver one a couple of weeks ago and it was beautiful. I love it.

    I would almost argue that the new 997 GT3 (easier for daily driver) has replaced the need for that car

    I am not a fan at all of the 996 C4S. Why bay a car that is slower, heavier, with LOADS of understeer then the C4 or C2 ?

    And the looks is just too bling to me, it does not have any real purpose other then ...the look .

    If I would go for all these Turbo features then I also want the engine that goes with it !! and I would just get the Turbo!

    The ' real' C4S is the current one. S for more power ( that was not the case on the 996 ,,instead the S was for... a red stripe ) and 4 for the AWD
