    Can i fit the 997 turbo bumbers on a stock 997 4S?

Can anybody help me please? I just bought a new 997 carrera 4 S and i would like to fit the front and rear bumper from the new 997 turbo! I know the two cars are as wide but i don't know if the exhausts are at the same level, the ones on the turbo look higher. Also i don't know if i can connect the front LED to the cars computer so that they work! Can anyone give me some info on this problem?

Re: Can i fit the 997 turbo bumbers on a stock 997 4S?

No offence intended but why on earth would you want to do this? You'll spoil your car IMO. But each to his own ... I suppose.

    Exactly what I'm thinking.

    I agree

Re: Can i fit the 997 turbo bumbers on a stock 997 4S?

One easy thing to do is check the track of the car (the distance between the rear wheels). If it is the same as the Turbo I bet you have a good chance that bumpers will interchange. If not, IMO, forgetabout it.

Also, guys are always saying the aerodymanics of the car will be disturbed when you mix and match "aero kit" parts like that; but I'm still not sure if that's a big deal at speeds slower than 130mph.

Re: Can i fit the 997 turbo bumbers on a stock 997 4S?

I guess he wants to do it because he wants to have a more aggresive look. As long as one does not put fake badges on the car there is no harm on doing this. I know that turbo and GT3 front bumper kits are on sale. I have not seen any ads on rear bumpers anywhere. Turbo front bumper kit has the new leds in them so it is a buy, paint and install package I believe.

Actually this thing is bothering me alot. I like the clean look of my C4S however from my teenage memory for some reason I always dreamed of Carreras with wings and aero packages.

My car is now almost a year old and this wing idea is itching me. getting a wing means getting at least a front bumper or an add on. I like the look of GT3 front and this front bumper is reachable or a RUF one. however I do not like GT3 wing that much. There is a new Misha wing which is by far the best wing I saw for the 997 but I dont know if it is designed with aerodynamics in mind. I also like the turbo wing.

Given the fact that I drive above 120 m/h all the time, ı am concerned about the change in dynamics with mixing the aero parts and I do not like one particular bodykit.

Re: Can i fit the 997 turbo bumbers on a stock 997 4S?

I like the look of the turbo a lot and because of de 35.000 euro price diference i couldn't afford it! Also i liked the 911 996 c4s wich had the exterior look of the turbo and the normal aspirated engine. Also i don't intend to drive at speeds faster then 130 mph a lot aspecially that in my country there aren't any motorways and that kind of speed is very dangerous. Maybe someone did this and could help me!

Re: Can i fit the 997 turbo bumbers on a stock 997 4S?

Also, can adding non-Porsche after market parts effect the trade in value/re-sale value as well? I assume if the parts are Porsche, Tech Art or Ruf, this does not have as a dramatic effect on the overall value of the car.

Re: Can i fit the 997 turbo bumbers on a stock 997 4S?

Respectfully, I don't see how this would "spoil" the car at all. Many, many other P-car owners have (most of them sucessfully I think) "upgraded" to OEM or aftermarket springs, spoilers, airdams, exhausts, diffusers, wheels, spacers -- even audio systems. Assuming he has no plans to track the car or otherwise operate it at "aerodynamically-enhanced" speeds, the mere substitution of OEM aerodynamic parts shouldn't make much difference to anything other than the aesthetics of the car and the owner's wallet. As for the hit to the wallet, let's just admit it, most of us with P-car disease have little resistance when it comes to buying stuff for these cars anyway.

Personally, I thought Porsche should've made the C4S coupe more aggressive looking in the first place, so to me it's not such a bad idea. Add to that the chance to "upgrade" to LEDs in front and then maybe the chance to do the same with the facelift's LEDs in back, and maybe he ends up with something that looks a little closer to how the 997 C4S should have looked from the very beginning. Now, whether the parts are easily fit is another question altogether. I'm guessing that the front bumper will likely fit with very little modification but may also require replacement of a couple of cooling ducts and a few other uderpinnings. The actual parts, getting the LEDs to work without triggering some freakin' lite, and re-positioning the exhaust tips (assuming they don't exactly line up with the Turbo's) will probably make this a rather difficult/expensive undertaking. Would also make for a unique car, I think -- not a spoiled one so long as it won't see much track or +130mph highway/autobahn use. Many P-cars won't ever fall into those categories though.

Re: Can i fit the 997 turbo bumbers on a stock 997 4S?

All I can add (since it does break my heart to think about this) is KEEP the old front and rear bumpers so that when you sell the car you can put things back in order. In fact, if you replace the orig parts when you sell it, you will have no stone chips etc in the front without ever having repainted the front of the car! I doubt the exhaust will ever fit without body work since the turbo has a completely different set of mufflers.

Re: Can i fit the 997 turbo bumbers on a stock 997 4S?

I'm too much of a purist at heart maybe, but I don't really get all the 'pimp your ride' add ons!
    All 997s look cool!

The other thing I don't get is spending loads to make the car look like a GT3 or Turbo. Why not save the money and trade in for a new/nearly new GT3?
(I admit the cost to upgrade to a Turbo is a lot)
Then you have the whole car, not just the fake look!

Re: Can i fit the 997 turbo bumbers on a stock 997 4S?

I assume the white 4S is your car? It looks gorgeous as is!!!

Check with Porsche before changing anything as it may affect your warranty...

Re: Can i fit the 997 turbo bumbers on a stock 997 4S?

Turbo bumpers will fit a 997 4s with a few small mods to the outlet pipes from the rear exhaust boxes. I fitted the turbo rear bumper to a C2S although with the 2S you will have to do some cosmetic work to the bumper as well.

Re: Can i fit the 997 turbo bumbers on a stock 997 4S?

If you're a person who's kinda new at the sports car thing, wait a year or two and still see if this is something you still want to do. I honestly can't imagine that you will. Hard to explain.

Agreed. While not as terrible as some of those cars that you see where the guy has taken a Toyota and made it into a fake Ferrari, it still has the same look/feel about it,,,,,,,,, trying to be something you're not.

Re: Can i fit the 997 turbo bumbers on a stock 997 4S?

    Aw geez. I mis-opined earlier.

Why would you want to add MORE vents on your smooth, clean, uninterrupted 997??????

The intercooler vents on each side of the turbo bumper look like..., well..., not good.

BTW, I forgot this earlier; The thing will NOT fit because the Turbo exhaust outlets are significantly higher and poke thru the bumper. The 997 exhaust pipes are tucked underneath its bumper with a notch (not a hole) on the bottom.

Re: Can i fit the 997 turbo bumbers on a stock 997 4S?

do you think you can post more pictures of you car plz?

    i am just curious

    +4

The car looks perfect the way it is.

Re: Can i fit the 997 turbo bumbers on a stock 997 4S?

I like the yellow pic except for the front 'pimples' but I'm just not into 'Frankenstein' cars.

Re: Can i fit the 997 turbo bumbers on a stock 997 4S?

I don't know about you guys but i love the turbo look! I loved the way they made the old 996 C4S with the turbo look and i don't think this will spoil my car at all. I ordered it in white with the turbo wheels and with the turbo bumpers it will look great. But that is my opinion. Thanks for your opinions anyway and hope you can still answer me with some tehnical details about the fitting!

Re: Can i fit the 997 turbo bumbers on a stock 997 4S?

Honestly, although I loved the body of the 996 C4S very very much, the one thing that REALLY bothered me mentally was the thought that this car can talk the talk but can't walk the walk... i.e. it looks like a turbo but doesn't go like a turbo.

I agree entirely with stradale. It's not healthy to want to be something you're not.

Re: Can i fit the 997 turbo bumbers on a stock 997 4S?

Actually I disagree with you here. As long as you are not putting a badge back there, you are not claiming that you are a turbo. It is just a body kit. You can get almost the GT3 one as a factory option. Also with the facelift the front bumper of the Carrera will get a similar styling direction as fas as I can see from the pics.

Re: Can i fit the 997 turbo bumbers on a stock 997 4S?

I have seen a C2S with a GT3 Aerokit and Turbo wheels at OPC E London. What a mess! It looked like a dog's dinner. The poor car didn't know whether it was coming or going. It had such a confused identity. Just my opinion...

Good point about the facelift - I recall the 996 getting the 'Turbo' headlights in '02. Might as well wait though for the LED taillights. I would hate to butcher the car and then find out the LED tail lights are coming out the next month.

Re: Can i fit the 997 turbo bumbers on a stock 997 4S?

Wait for the gt2 front bumper.
