I can certainly hear it with the windows up. In fact, if I put my right foot down while using option 666 with the windows up, folks on the other end can tell I'm driving something really special -- even at relatively low speeds. Let's not even talk about the aural bliss I experience with the top down (I have a convertible) -- absolutely wonderful!
Only one drawback -- when my girlfriend calls she can always tell when I'm driving "vigorously" since PSE is modded, so I get to hear her whine about how I shouldn't drive so fast all the time. A little annoying (my girlfriend, not the PSE of course), but I luv her anyway . . . she helped me to finalize all my options, PSE included. Great car, great gal! I plan to keep 'em both.

For those of you with PSE, do you find that the sound difference is audible when driving with windows closed?

[...] very noticeable especially when you eliminate the cutoff. IMHO, a must with the PSE.

I'd like to see some pics of your cab...may have seen you around. Are you in Atl?
I doubt the PSE option is this way but Porsche was thinking of the added pleasure of driving a cab when they made the stock exhaust note on cabs louder than the coupes. Yet another benefit of driving a cab...especially with PSE.

GA997S -- Believe it or not, I have yet to take a single photo of the car -- except with my camera phone the night before delivery. I keep planning to, but I can't stop driving it long enough to wash and shoot it. Strangely, I think I have pics of YOUR car that I took while it was awaiting service in the dealership's parking lot (btw, very nice ride!). Rest easy, I took them for my personal use only -- in fact, I took pics of many local cars with color schemes I thought were cool so I could view them later from the comfort of home. Hmmm, does that make me sound like a "P-car stalker"? Funny, I don't recall doing that for any of the other cars I've purchased in the past. Anyway, it definitely beat going to the dealership to see P-cars every time I got a whim. Obviously, I am in Atl so maybe you've seen me around (5k mostly local miles so far).
BTW, you deserve BIG thanks from me since it was your car and color scheme that helped me to finally decide on mine. Gotta luv the black cab -- even when it's not so clean.
Hope to wash and shoot this weekend . . .

Apart from the permanent cutoff modification, is there a chance to keep the on/off feature via the console switch but redeeming the speed-sensitive cutoff? If I'm not mistaken this was possible on the 996 series with some additional wiring...
Yes, it is. By adding an extra switch. Jeannot, myself and others have it

Thanks for the info. Did you install it at the dealership?
I assume you overleap the cutoff mode in that case?
