Natural Grey worth it over black?

I have an April build for a slate TT. I was wondering if the natural grey would look OK - it should as I understand it's almost black? Secondly, is the texture or look of the leather that much better than the std. black. I guess it should be an additional $1,500 or so.

I've gone crazy the last few days with options! Figure this one will be a keeper so may as well try to get it exactly as I want.

The only other decision is leather center console or Carbon? Looks like I'm sold on the basic CF package as well as the CF switch package. Afraid of too much Carbon though so the door finishers will be leather and will do the leather piece in front of the shifter as well as the storage bin lid with model designation.

Re: Natural Grey worth it over black?

Not worth it to me but others have gone that route. It is a subtle difference like Arctic vs GT silver.

Re: Natural Grey worth it over black?

Too me the Naturals are definitely worth it, they say Porsche only uses the top 10% of their hides for their natural leathers.
My wife noticed the quality straight away, to her the naturals feel like a fine Gucci or Prada handbag!

Re: Natural Grey worth it over black?

I love the Natural leathers, they are more of a Prada/Gucci instead of the GAP. Tough call on the CF or leather center console, if you go with Natural leather and leather console they will put natural leather on the console.

That was my next question regarding the console, thanks.

slate over natrual brown leather is gorgeous and no one will mistake the NBL for regular black

Re: Natural Grey worth it over black?

    Chris:
I just went through a similar decision for a GT Silver 4S Targa. Wanted CF accents in eye sight; decided on Console/Package/Switch Panel. Also added Black PCM unit, Instrument Dials and Surround; completing a (imho) rather sharp "T" in CF-Black. Then, not wanting to overdo the CF, opted for door-finishers and "that" leather piece in Leather. Looked at both Black and NL-Grey and found the latter more subtle, with less contrasting stitching, blending better with the CF.

And yes, NL-Grey looks almost black (but it's the "almost" that made the difference to me) and seems to have a finely grained texture (though texture not apparant unless upclose).

Still waiting for the finished product so no picures but hope this helps.

Re: Natural Grey worth it over black?

I have natural grey leather in mine along with the leather rear console too. IMHO, having too much is not a good thing. Being subtle really makes a difference which is why I chose not to get the CF rear console. Going with leather rear console, gear trim, sun visors, steering column and door finishers really adds to the overall feeling of utter luxury, IMHO. Also, you might want to get the "model logo" on storage compartment because the cover will be leather as opposed to I believe vinyl. With that in mind, if you're going this route then you might as well go with natural grey leather because it does as people have said, feel sublime. The texture is much more refined, the feel is much more supple and it looks/smells great. I'd say that it's 98% black almost to the point where I'd be inclined to call it charcoal black. One thing to keep in mind is that the carpeting is not black but rather, dark grey. With that said, natural grey IMHO would go well with slate grey. Check out this picture below:

when buying a sports car, choose any color you like, AS LONG AS IT'S BLACK!

Re: Natural Grey worth it over black?

Nice mats in that Turbo Atomic80 - do you mind if I ask what type they are? I had two sets wear out in my Boxster 987 and for the GT3 I'm getting Tuesday I'm going to put something more sturdy in!

Re: Natural Grey worth it over black?

Steve, my mats are from Weathertech. Try looking them up. I don't know if they'll ship to the UK. Be sure to get the type "57" version because I accidentally ordered the "55" and the passenger side turned out to be the wrong type so I had to order the "57" version which was correct. You'll see what I mean when you go to their website. Just note that it's for a coupe with the Bose stereo.

Re: Natural Grey worth it over black?

You'll need yet another type, since the steering wheel (and presumably the Bose unit) is on the other side in the UK.

Re: Natural Grey worth it over black?

    DOH...I didn't think of that.

Re: Natural Grey worth it over black?

    Consider Meteor and cocoa.

Re: Natural Grey worth it over black?

I have Natural Grey on my Turbo and I am very happy with my choice. As others have said, it is almost black and I the leather finish and quality is excellent. I also find the colour of Natural Grey really works with my exterior colour - Basalt. I would highly recommend the Natural Leathers.

Jason, I did the exact same thing and ordered the wrong mats but Weathertech were great about handling the exchange.

atomic80 - everytime I see that techart wheel I love it even more! Getting mine fitted next week and if it looks half as good as yours I'll be a happy camper!!

If you love the way it looks then you'll love the way it feels even more!

Tony, did they ask you to mail the wrong one back? They told me to keep it...I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it.

Cut it to fit the passengers seat so you have a safe way to carry your banana peels.

Re: Natural Grey worth it over black?

Very funny, Jim. The wrong one is actually too small so unless you have some extra rubber, a press and a place for me to keep my banana peels, then I'd be out of luck there.

Re: Natural Grey worth it over black?

Check with your dealers parts department!

Re: Natural Grey worth it over black?

Thanbks for that - will look it up!!

I shipped mine back to them anyway, I don't need to collect any more things.
