    Drive in my friends 993 Carrera RS

    Hey guys,

    Went for a drive in my friend's 993 Carrera RS yesterday. The car sounds amazing!

    The 993 RS is my favourite Porsche. Here is a pic from a recent Porsche club meeting in Australia.

    There was a 997 Turbo nearby...and it was really amazing how large the current day Porsche's are compared to the 993/964 etc.

    They look like they need to go on a diet!

    Yes, my friend also has a 1985 Carrera 3.2 with 20,000 miles on the odo and a speed yellow 996 Turbo, side by side it seems the newer they are the larger they become

    Check this out for a light weight Porsche then...550 spyder.

    This is my Uncle's. He drove it 1000kms for this Porsche meet.

    Its a replica....but still alot of fun!

    Thanks for sharing with us, Mike.

    The 993 RS is one of my favorite cars together with the 964 RS. A lot of 964 RS are still driving around on german tracks and you'd be surprised to see how fast they are, keeping up and even being faster with modern 911 variants.
    Especially the 964 RS surprises me all the time, incredible machine.

    You're welcome RC! I wish I could get my hands on one of these. Problem is they are quite scarce in SA. Only 17 and my friends is 1 of 4 RHD's in the country. Fell in love with it instantly as soon as I saw it!

    Yes, the 964RS is a very hardcore car to be street legal. It is the stiffest and most track-focused of the street-legal RS's. Gets around pretty well with only 260hp. Our version (RS America) is a pale imitation, but still fetches decent money...

    the 964 rs in the italian competition are almost as fast as the gt3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    it's the most amazing car for gentleman drivers...it's sooooooo fast on the track....

    Isn't this also because people by now know how to perfectly setup and tune a 964RS vs. "GT3s-out-of-the-dealer" ?

    I go to Southern France next Saturday to pick it up. I'll post some pics as soon as I can make some good ones, as weather isn't always on the right side here in Belgium!

    I think it has alot to do with the older cars being lighter. There are some lap times here of older and newer cars in my post (different classes allow different mods though - still figuring it out):

    Yes, ruby red. I think this color was only offered on the RS 92. It's not quite discreet, but on a car mainly designed to be seen on tracks, I think it's nicer to have a shiny color.

    Regarding the weight, of what I know, it comes up to power to weight ratio. In this case, 1220kg is the most accepted number. Mine has 313bhp and 400Nm, so, hopefully, it should be some fun

    Little modification were done, according to the last owner: he says that without any modification, most of the rs engines had a higher output, around 270-275hp. Cat bypass give an extra 10hp, the rest was obtained by reprogramming the chip. It's close to non mods in my opinion. What I like is that I can always retrofit the original cat and get back to the original programming...

    I will, pictures say more than words, especially on forums!!!

    My firts report will be the trip back home, a 1000km drive, as I've decided not to carry it. Hope it won't be too painful
