What about interior for the GT2 ?Smiley

If they let me paint the callipers in black, I would keep the red interior, so it will be primarily a black/red car.

If they don't, then I am forced to go with black/grey, then change out all the stitching to yellow and add yellow seatbelts, and do it as a black/yellow car.

I don't mind a car that has various shades of grey/black, they are o the same color family, I just don't like it when it has more than one flashy colours, the yellow PCCB just looked completely out of place for a car with black/red interior.

    Anyone know the NoS laptime?

Factory time was 7:05 min. as far as I heard...

That seems slow. The .2 GT3 is 7:12.70.

I believe it can do sub 7min.

I can only tell you the factory result... Smiley

You seem to put a lot of fantasy in Walliser's words... Smiley

When asked about whether the GT2 RS will be able to beat the Lamborghini Huracan Performance’s lap time of 6:52, his response was the company will use the exact same specification of engine and tires as the production car, adding Porsche won’t be “going for lap times that the customer cannot achieve.” Make of that what you will...

This rather means that Walliser doesn't believe customers will achieve 6:52 with the Huracan Performante than the GT2 RS achieving a similar time.

Of course the customer won't achieve the 6:52 the Performante achieved but neither will be customer ever achieve under 7 minutes in a 918. Smiley Sport Auto did 7:13 if you remember...

Re: 991 GT2 RS (2017) - Rumors, speculations and gossip Thread Closed

Stopping short of suggesting there was anything suspicious about the Huracan Performante’s recent record Nurburgring lap time, Porsche Vice President of Motorsport, Dr Frank-Steffen Walliser, says Porsche would attack a record lap slightly differently to its upstart Italian stablemate.

If Porsche were to take the GT2 RS to the ‘ring at all, that is…

Speaking to Australian journalists at the launch of the new 911 GT2 RS, Dr Walliser refuted the idea that Nurburgring lap times had become inconsequential and little more than manufacturer chest beating.

“Humans have been competing for thousands of years,” he said. “Why should it stop?”

Rally legend Walter Rohrl told CarAdvice that now the production car has been released, energy can be spent dialling the fastest and most powerful 911 in even more, honing it for racetrack glory. “That’s the next step,” he said.

More than one high-ranking Porsche motorsport official seemed to indicate that the Huracan wasn’t quite a ‘showroom standard’ production car, and that’s where the difference between the two philosophies is most apparent.

“Let me say one thing on the Nordschleife,” Dr. Walliser said. “If we go to the Nurburgring, we use the tyres that we sell to the customers, we use the engine the customers will have in their car. It’s the Porsche way. I’m not going for lap times that the customer cannot achieve.”

Dr. Walliser went on to explain his comments aren’t a critique on how the competition does it, but rather that the approach he details is ‘the Porsche way’. If that take on the Porsche way leads to a more realistic experience for buyers, then it’s mission accomplished for the German marque.

For now, though, everyone at Porsche seems content to talk about the ability of the new GT2 RS in an everyday sense, reinforcing its ability as a road car. Dr. Walliser couldn’t resist the opportunity to remind us of what could happen.

“This is the seventh generation of the 911, it’s all about seven – 700 horsepower,” he said. “It’s no seven on the Nurburgring though.”

    Game on?

in spite of nick's very plausible production arithmetic on the GT2RS i hear from very reliable sources that PAG is counting on a production of 3000 units until summer 2018, with the possible extension to the end of 2018/early 2019. if so, how do they get the 991.2 GT3RS out in reasonable numbers? maybe only a limited edition for the naturally aspirated flagship? in any case the GT2RS will not be a rare vehicle, no stuff for flippers.

Rare by limitation? Probably not. Rare by numbers? Very likely. I do not think that Porsche will sell 3000 GT2 RS at an average price tag of around 300k, especially since speculators may not be interested (for now).

According to rumors, Porsche planned with 1000 cars but of course they would be happy if they sell more.

I still believe the GT2 RS is too expensive, especially compared to the McLaren 720S and the 488 GTB but time will tell.

Maybe they will only build a halo GT3 RS, like the 997 4.0 GT3RS yes

I'm also curious to see what they will do with the engine. It has to be modified for 2019 to meet emission targets.

I think they are going to use the homologation from the GT3 (without RS) for the RS but I'm not sure.

Thing is: Even now, there are already restrictions in place, for example for exhaust systems. Some manufacturers stopped installing/developing flap operated exhaust systems and most sportscar manufacturers will follow soon.

Or to be blunt: The times of good sounding exhaust systems is basically over, at least legally.

Too bad Porsche is not doing it the way Ferrari does where caliper's color is customer's choice and not a Factory way to differentiate CCBs from ordinary ones.

This screenshot from the promo vid shows gearing of about 56kph/1000rpm in 6th which means 340kph (on the speedo) would be at 6100rpm in 6th gear.

This doesn't tally with the reports of lower gearing - are these videos faked somehow  yes

I forgot to pinpoint that this refers to driver operated flap systems. The exhaust systems can still have flaps but the driver is not supposed to be able to operate them, the sound/noise level always has to stay the same at any given rpm.

This means bye-bye driver operated exhaust buttons...

With PDK, Porsche will sell over 1,000 cars.

The current generation is way too easy to drive compared to the older 911's with a manual.

    And it sounds horrible enlightened
