    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

Latest rumors has it that Porsche is now sending out a lot of cars to customers that ordered the magnesium rims  with aluminum rims and tell the customers they will get the right rims as soon as they are ready (what ever this means....). One of my friend had this happening to him and I’ve heard of others arround Europe as well.

Without saying to much, this would not be ok for me. The whole color scheme for my car is somewhat build around the color of magnesium rims. And if I buy a € 340 k (Swedish price)car, I expect to be able to drive it without having people pointing at me and ask me if I’m totally color blind or have no taste...

Porsche builds fantastic cars, but they seem to totally have lost track of their supply chain management.......mail

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

Your car has a giant wing and contrasting intakes everywhere -- they already think you're blind ;)

I'd say you're getting a pretty good deal actually. I'm sure you could tell them to just not deliver your car for 6 months while they wait to get them in stock...

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

Well, that’s a point off course. The wing I mean. But you know, if you find this car taste less already with the wing only, I guess you would really feel sick if the color scheme were bad as well? Especially compared to you great RAV 4

And don’t get your point regarding a good deal? For me a god deal is to get WHAT you pay for IN TIME !!!

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

You are getting it in time. In fact, you're getting it early.

If you order a car and the parts aren't available for it, you normally wouldn't get it at all.

Will they give you painted wheels that match your car instead? BTW, after you receive your mag wheels will they allow you to keep the aluminum wheels?

Yes, at least one guy on Rennlist was offered both sets (keep the temporary aluminum wheels) and get Mags later...

Yes, I think this is the case. My friend was offered to keep the alu rims. Well see what happens. By the way, in Sweden there is nine cars delivered. One totaled and one slightly bent so far......

The totaled one was driven by a Gumball wannabe that had a “practice” race with a Ferrari Gumball wannabe......heart

I wish for Alu wheels that I can keep when the mags shows up.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

I would not worry - I would drive the car and don't bother about the actual wheels and down the road I get new rims - even better ! Waiting time for something can be very attractive as well ! Also you don't have to worry about "curbing" and drive the hell out of them....

If you get to keep the alu wheels then you can just paint them and sell them afterwards if you want to get your money (and more, for trouble) back.

Now that I have like 3+ months of wait before I get my GT2RS, I picked up this crazy idea that I wanted to switch the seats from LWB to sofa.

I mean, they won't sell me the cage so the track capability is sort of pointless, and the LWB became just a decoration inside the car. A sofa seat makes much more sense for comfort, and with that the GT2RS can be used as a great grand touring car, like a Ferrari F12/812.

To get my track thrills, I can always use the GT2 CS

you have so much capacity on the garage size than going sofa (which are extremely good) for the 2RS is good choice for more usability Smiley If I had your garage, I would do the same Smiley

if your getting the CS why bother with the sofa equipped GT2. You have many cars in your stable which will come close to what the sofa GT2 will provide.yes

Interesting thought and it gave me a pause too.

Come to think of it, of all the previous gen GT2RS I know, the ones with comfort seats have the most miles, cars with buckets are mostly garage queens.

Something for me to think about  too, honestly, never even crossed my mind before.Smiley

it's really not that hard. Find out how far I need to travel, the amount of gas left in each car, how many people I am expect to carry. That's it.

Most of the time the Cayenne takes the honour. Later this year it will be the Exclusive.

If it's Saturday morning then it would be one of the Porsches.

If I expect to be stuck in traffic then I won't take the manuals out.

Lastly, all depends one which car is not at the dealership getting worked on Smiley

There is this peer pressure to order items in the car to fit the 'image' it projects out. I didn't do that with my 911R, it is suppose to be a light weight special and radio and air-con delete are suppose to be a must. Not to me, I want creature comfort in a street car. At least I kept the bucket seats.

RS cars are suppose to be track day specials, hence the image of having roll cage and light weight stuff, like perhaps even radio and air-con delete and bucket seats. Collectors demand those inline with the perceived image.

Porsche North America neutered that image by not giving us the cage, so the biggest draw of the car is already a moot point. It is not a track day special without a cage and 6 point.

Had I lived in Europe, I would totalling keep the bucket seats with the cage.

My GT2RS is also loaded with interior trims, leather this alcanntara that. Matching stitching also. With 700hp on tap, the added 15-20-40lbs is not going to be noticeable even if I track it. Heck, I will likely lap faster than a lot of guys in their 'lightweight build' GT2RS.

why switch seats just because OEM cage is not allowed?

you know it is very easy to put aftermarket cage in.  I got RSS cage in my RS and it works perfectly.

if your GT2RS don't see track time, then I say there is no reason to buy it at all.

BTW, I am tracking at Area 27 this Saturday.  Maybe I'll see you there.
