No love for the bright Porsche colours here it seems angry

Yeah I'm certain going from a ~50:50 weight front engined 480bhp M4 into a 690bhp ~40:60 rear engined beast will take some getting used to for sure. I plan on mainly using it at the track though so a little bit safer environment than the typical British B road! indecision

for a 2RS I'd be going silver with the gold wheels. With yellow, would you be going black inside instead of the red?

Yeah definitely going black inside, red would be awful!

Also opting for the satin black painted Mag wheels rather than the slightly gold looking ones, as they'd completely clash with the yellow too.

Congratulations and Welcome SmileySmiley.  You won't find many prospective GT2RS owners here SmileySmiley. Plenty who wanted one but did not get one. I'm in the Black exterior camp with this one too. Interior is all down to how brave you want to be. At the risk of stating the obvious, beware its quite a jump from M cars to a GT2RS though its no widow maker like the 996 version.

In US at least, it is still in the air whether some of the non 918 owners will be able to get one.

The VIP guys (918) already are accounted for , what is unknown yet is how many (if any) allocations over that allotment will be available to the rest of us, the poor slobs who are unworthy of Porsche's attention, since some of us bought 10s of cars over the years from them but made the grave and unforgivable mistake to not buy the 918 few years ago.

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

I guess there are probably some none 918 owners able to get one in US. Production of GT2 RS looks like it will be over 1,000 from what Porsche has said so far, so must be a few extras somewhere about even if all 918 owners have gone for one yes

I also understand that Porsche must approve the purchaser. Since this is your first Porsche, they may refuse to sell it to you. There are too many Porsche good customers wanting one. Again, I urge you to do your homework and make sure the allocation will be assigned to you with Porsche's approval.

    Fixed.

It was never Porsche's decision as to who gets a car outside of the North American 918 VIPs. It's the disgusting dealers that doesn't want to sell a GT2RS to just anyone that walks in the door. They only see $$ sign.

Truth is, there are plenty of allocations (plenty as in more than the 918 VIPs) available to the dealers, it's just that the dealers doesn't know who they want to gouge for extra money. The whales who will pay whatever gigantic market adjustments or the one that bought 20 cars from them. It's a plain and simple lie from them that they don't know how many they got. They KNOW. They just want to keep their cards close and figure out how to maximize their potential profit off the GT2RS. They all have a wait list, but they don't go down the list one by one. They pick and choose people off that list, #1 on the list doesn't mean shit. The #10 guy can be #1 if he is willing to pay market adjustment.

I want one too but if I had to choose where I leave my 300k EUR, it wouldn't be the GT2 RS. angry Unless of course I would have plenty of 300k "chunks" at my disposal. indecision

Right now my list would be:

    1. Huracan Performante

    2. 488 GTB

    3. 720S

    4. GT2 RS

First three options are cheaper than GT2 RS in Germany.

Again, I'm not trying to make the GT2 RS look bad, it is a fantastic car but you need to look at it from an "only car" buyer's perspective. If the GT2 RS is one of many, it is surely a nice toy. If this is the only "toy" you are going to drive, think twice before getting one.

You would not enjoy the first two (given your interest in straight line acceleration) - they are just too slow compared to the 720s which is in a league of its own Smiley

Markus, I do not care that much about straight line acceleration anymore and this started when I switched from a 991.1 Turbo S to a 991.1 Carrera 4 GTS Cab. Smiley There are more important things related to driving fun and since I haven't encountered a single car on the Autobahn yet to outrun me (I cannot keep up with a 720S or 918 for that matter straight line but I can do 300+ kph in a narrow Autobahn curve, something many drivers don't have the guts to Smiley Smiley), I think I'm fine. Outside the Autobahn, with AWD, there aren't many cars able to even follow me. I am running PZero road tires, just imagine I would put the Cup 2 on my car. Smiley

That said, a 720S isn't for me. Sorry. I respect the amazing straight line performance of this car and the excellent traction control setup (according to people who have driven it) but the sound is (also according to people who drove it) rather muted, so I guess this is something more of your ball field. Smiley

I also like the love for details on the 720S, McLaren clearly loves cars. Not a fan of the turbo lag though (yes, there is one) and while I haven't driven the 720S yet, any kind of turbo lag is annoying. Not even talking about the sound because the sound of the engine/exhaust is 50% (maybe even more) of the fun driving a sportscar.

What I also like about McLaren is the value customers get for their money. I could basically live with a base car, no further options (which is 247k EUR in Germany). For comparison: My R8 V10 Plus costs 223k EUR. OK, it is fully optioned but I could live without some of the options. I love my car but I can clearly see the better value (for money) in the 720S, no doubt about it. Even if I assume that McLaren doesn't provide the rebates and sensational lease offers Audi provides for the R8.

Overall, I hope that McLaren has a positive effect on Porsche, to finally go the full nine yards but I have a bad feeling about it because I know that Porsche is about profit and I do not see them cutting down on margins just to make customers happy. As long as they sell the cars at current (and future higher) prices, they will continue to do so.

    Congrats on the incoming 2RS.

Black/Black for mine but if the better half likes yellow then yellow it is.

For some it seems nothing short of a Birkin is the cost of entry to the Porsche GT club. Happy wife happy life!

I think you confused me for someone else? I decided not getting the GT2 RS around two weeks ago. Already had the lease numbers and everything ready but I wouldn't be able to keep the car longer than a year or so and if the value would have dropped... Too risky and it just wasn't the car I would have kept for myself. Smiley

Looks so good in Yellow but definitely needs the Weissach pack. I've added the black door handles, mirrors and black painted alloys too!

Borrowing an F-Type SVR for a week at the moment and that thing is seriously fun. And sounds incredible. Got to be one of the greatest V8 engines imo.

Spent August cruising around the Hawaiin islands with a Camaro SS convertible. Quit nice car for being an American and some very fun roads (road to Hana for example) kiss wink But to drive over 65 mph was quit a ordeal windvise. Got back today, but when I'm back on track timevise I'll tell you all about my thoughts about the American way of driving and the their lack of lane discipline.... But right now I'm twelve hours off....

    Re: OFFICIAL: 911 GT2 RS (2017)

I love how the GT2RS looks. It creates the same impression as the 993 GT2 back in the 90s.

A GT Silver car with the Weissach paket line along the bonnet and roof looks fantastic.

This car looks like the fully functional speed machine which it is and it offers something completely different to the other 700 PS cars from Italy and the UK which follow the known and repeated pattern.

This GT2 is a mean machine ready and eager to do battle. We already have too many cars in this price and PS bracket for posing. Porsche do things their own way as always and my compliments to Preuninger and his team.

I wish I had the cash required surprise
