    Re: Cayenne...which one?

LOL. At that time I just got off the plane from London at Leipzig if you must know smiley

I know what diesel are supposed to be like, but seriously the Cayenne S diesel just blew me away.

have you asked Porsche about that 1 second delay on acceleration?  That has to be a defect???

Actually the Cayenne S diesel doesn't act like a traditional one.

I was picked up in one driven around in one in Leipzig and I didn't notice until I saw the tachometer. It doesn't have the shudder vibration nor the smell.

Did you drink to much at the reception the night before SmileySmileySmiley. If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck , and quacks like a duck  - it is a duck! Humour me , I'm just having some fun with my diesel hate.

Seriously...no Diesel smell and V8 sound, believe it or not. I always have the feeling that I drive a Cayenne Turbo without sport exhaust. Sound is (almost, a bit more muted) the same.

Oh, there is a huge difference though to a V8 fuel engine: Yesterday, we were in Austria (wife in Cayenne, me in R8). During that 300 km trip, my wife had a 8.6 l / 100 km Diesel consumption. Mostly speed limited (100 kph) country roads but also a bit of Autobahn (not driving faster than 140 kph though). Cayenne was fully loaded (wife, three friends and four pairs of skis, ski boots and other stuff). She never got her Macan Turbo below 14 l / 100 km (mixed driving).

I'm not a fan of Diesel cars but the Cayenne S Diesel really makes sense. I just wish it had more power (50-60 hp) for the Autobahn.

I couldn't contact them yet because it is too early. Have been told to drive at least 2000 km and then judge the throttle response. Let's see... This car feels so powerful in the city and on country roads, a real joy to drive. Even on the Autobahn, it never feels slow but of course it could use 50-60 hp more.

The Pirelli Scorpion winter tires (19'', 265s front and rear) also seem to be excellent for this heavy SUV. They feel a bit "soft" when doing some narrow curves and steering-in could feel more precise but they provide excellent grip and braking behavior, even on wet and "greasy" roads.

Sky would love the black Cayenne...lots of room and dirt...dog paradise. Smiley

was it VR Tuning co. did ECU tuned for diesel a while back?, adding 60 hp to cayenne diesel back in 2013?

    Re: Cayenne...which one?

It is pretty easy to add around 35-40 hp through a (quite affordable) piggyback device (not really a plug'n play install job though) but risking the warranty for that? On a 18 month lease? Not really worth it.

Some German tuners also offer up to 60 hp more power but again, this is a lease and it is too risky.

The new Cayenne S Diesel is going to be interesting...422 hp...over 100 kg less weight...let's just hope that by the time Porsche presents it, German cities won't start to ban Diesels from city downtowns.

Diesel cars have a pretty tough stand right now over here and unfortunately I do not see good things coming for them. It is however quite fascinating how you can drive a 2.4 ton SUV with around 9-10 l / 100 km Diesel consumption and not feel underpowered at all. While a fuel powered Cayenne with similar power needs at least 14-15 l / 100 km under the same driving conditions. At least.

My wife won't get another SUV after her Cayenne S Diesel lease runs out in 18 months, so it is going to be my choice of what kind of SUV (if any) we are going to choose. The next Cayenne Turbo S is very tempting but very likely financially not possible for me and I'm not sure I would want to risk to lease a next gen Cayenne S Diesel for 36 months and then get the surprise that I cannot drive into cities with it. No way.

There will be a huge change over here in Germany (and many other markets?) over the next couple of years, the transition to ELVs, more sophisticated hybrids and away from Diesel cars. This is going to be a very interesting period of time but to be honest, I would not buy any new car right now (with the exception of high performance sports cars maybe) because it is very uncertain which cars will hold their value and which ones won't.

One reason leases are going to become even more popular over here...

25 Euro Cents difference between Diesel and Super Plus (98 octane, 95 octane US).

Diesel is around 1.17 EUR and Super Plus (98 octane) is around 1.42 EUR.

    Big difference.

My wife and I want to buy a Cayenne gasoline that consumes less than our previous Cayenne Turbo 2011. which consumption has the Cayenne 3.6 V6 2016? Is your purchase advisable? Thank you

    Re: Cayenne...which one?

Wait for the new one end of this year....

Best advice, also I would avoid the V6...too weak for a 2 ton SUV.

Cayenne S is probably the most interesting Cayenne from a value point of view but the sportier GTS is surely more fun.

    Personally, I prefer a V8 in SUVs.

agree. I'll wait for the new one. But the S I imagine it will be a V6 biturbo the same as the new panamera.

Yes, I'm afraid so but a heavy SUV benefits from the extra torque.

    Re: Cayenne...which one?

Wait for the new one, which I believe will appear at the Frankfurt show. The exterior will be somewhat improved – with a more integrated Panamera like rear, and a much improved interior.  Personally, I am waiting to compare this new Cayenne to--believe it or not – a new Panamera Sport Turismo.  Strongly considering burgundy red metallic as an alternative to the gray, silver, black, white cars I see you everywhere in my large metropolitan city.

Anyone seen a burgundy red metallic car in real life? If so I'd appreciate some pics ..

    Re: Cayenne...which one?

The dealers are gonna have their first look at the new Cayenne in November.
