Mission 400 Plus...speaking of turbo engine reliability

H&R, in collaboration with Jürgen Alzen Motorsport and RS-Tuning have announced the 997 Mission 400.

Top speed: over 400 kph.
Power: aprox. 1055 HP (3.8 l "Turbo" engine)
Torque: 1250 Nm

Right, this is a concept car but it shows what a good engine Tuner can do if the basis is right.
It also shows the close relationship between H&R, Jürgen Alzen Motorsport and RS-Tuning.

Of course this engine has been modded a lot and it isn't using VTG chargers but it shows what potential it has.

We're talking about 1055 HP without NoS or other "gimmicks".

Re: Mission 400 Plus...speaking of turbo engine reliability

I bet that would give the Bugatti a run for the money

Proof positive that the rumours that the 911's flat 6 engine is "obsolete" are greatly exaggerated.

Re: Mission 400 Plus...speaking of turbo engine reliability

A porsche 911 with 1000+ HP. WOW!!

Re: Mission 400 Plus...speaking of turbo engine reliability

It's going to be the bomb! Literally! I assume it isn't going to set any reliability standards .

Re: Mission 400 Plus...speaking of turbo engine reliability

Any more pics of it? From this angle, it looks really decent for such a heavily tuned car. Most tuners seem to think that a tuned car should look like a fast&furious ugly car. This however seems to look beautiful!

Re: Mission 400 Plus...speaking of turbo engine reliability

Great looking car Elegant , sleek and mean! I like the back too.
Looking forward to see if they break the record..

Re: Mission 400 Plus...speaking of turbo engine reliability

Thanks for the clarification, RC!

I had the impression that the roof was lowered but couldn't find any sense in doing so - until now.

Re: Mission 400 Plus...speaking of turbo engine reliability

Outrageous

Please keep us posted

Re: Mission 400 Plus...speaking of turbo engine reliability

Ignore the horsepower, but this is what a 997TT should have look like from the factory. Its rear is better looking than any ferrari or lambo...

Okay, I'll ignore the horsepower, but not the torque-1250Nm!

In front, I would make the grille over the intakes black, instead of silver chrome, but otherwise the nose is nice and GT2/3-looking.

You know what would really be scary? If there were a way of making such an engine reliable and with no lag. There would be several expensive VW customers with very long noses .

Re: Mission 400 Plus...speaking of turbo engine reliability

You know what I find strange is that there are no intakes or vents for the intercoolers, just the engine intakes on the rear decklid. It seems to me with this much power comes a lot of heat and the need for large intakes and vents.

Re: Mission 400 Plus...speaking of turbo engine reliability

Is it my impression, or this 997TT have a kind of speedster look??? The roof looks much lower than stock 997TT. Go to Sports Car Board and see this pics taken by Rami at Essen show to this car, it really seems the roof is lowered

Re: Mission 400 Plus...speaking of turbo engine reliability

Yes it does look that way. Makes sense.

Well, if my vision isn't failing me, I think the sign above the car at Essen says the 1250Nm (922lb-ft) peaks at 5200rpm's, and besides, a little lag might make it driveable on the street below peak boost (but then again, it might not ).

And remember, the car would weigh alot less than a Veyron (I think the Bugatti comes in around 4300lb), so talk about incredible power:weight ratio's. Not to mention power:displacement ratio's (1055:3.8=277.6HP/L versus the Veyron's 1001:8.0=a paltry 125).

I was also thinking the same... Looks good

Re: Mission 400 Plus...speaking of turbo engine reliability

Yes, the roof is lowered to favilitate aerodynamic efficiency. Not the first time RS Tuning did something like this (they used to reduce the angle of the windshield on the 993s, so they actually looked like 996s from the side).

I heard of an adiabatic engine once on Rennlist, which supposedly allowed 850 reliable RWHP out of a 3,8 litre 993TT. If they utilized the technology, strenghtened the drivetrain and overcame the turbo lag with some sort of supercharger, this would be a dashing car (more than Veyron's power in a comfortable 997TT). That engine is supposed to run ice cold .

Re: Mission 400 Plus...speaking of turbo engine reliability

does it have longer chassis than base 997TT ????

It looks bigger to me

It's lower, that's why.

Re: Mission 400 Plus...speaking of turbo engine reliability

Looks pretty good for that kind of power. Agree with the comment that the front grill should be dark - to make it less aftermarket looking.

Am I the only who thinks the exhaust look a bit small (especially compared to the immense power/performance)?

NOTE: make sure you turn your sound off before going to this site as there is a VERY annoying buzzing wasp advert on each page.

Re: Mission 400 Plus...speaking of turbo engine reliability

wow...that car is simply amazing

best looking tuned 997 by far

Re: Mission 400 Plus...speaking of turbo engine reliability

Isn't that a 996 made to look like a 997? I seem to recall reading that somewhere.
