    Ouch!!!!

Here is a good reason to find out who is going to drive your car off premises when you take it in for service!!!

    Re: Ouch!!!!

This has already been posted in several threads. Plus, it a Carrera GT which belongs to the Porsche Board. Porsche 997 board is for 997s. The Porsche board is for the Carrera GT. When will they learn.

    Re: Ouch!!!!

wow vtrader! I am very, very impressed by your intimate knowledge of the dos and donts of the Rennteam boards! For your information, I was not really concerned about the fact that it is a GT story being posted in a 997 board, I was more interested in finding out if anyone worries about who drives their car off the dealer's lot after he/she drops it for service!

70 is too old for a CGT?

Eeeeeeasy everybody. What's werid is I have habits which I find hard to break. I rarely go to the CGT board, rarely go to the plain old Porsche board, so... , I for one am glad gmp posted it here (the renteam board with the most activity?) otherwise I wouldn't have seen it.

Anyway, God forgive me but, it's probably a good thing the guy lost this car. This car with all its quirks and the 600 HP in the hands of a "type A" personality that has the physiological response rate of a 70 year old, and who is probably a total amateur driver, is also an accident waiting to happen.

I say this admitting a CGT in MY hands would probably be an accident waiting to happen too and I'm a little more than half his age.

Re: 70 is too old for a CGT?

Why even have different boards? There were already two different threads started on this CGT crash previously. It clutters the board. Why makes Rennteam a good place compared to all the other sites is that is tends not to be cluttered. Some of the other boards have twenty different threads on the same subject. Why? It doesn't add anything and dilutes any meaningful information.

Re: 70 is too old for a CGT?

Age should not be the criteria for capable driving of any car.
My first Porsche is the 997 TT after 29 years of lusting after a Porsche ... I took delivery at age 49. Prior to the refinements made in the 997 rendition, my height of 6 ft. 7in. didn't allow comfort in any of this class of sports car.
Researching the capabilities of all the 997's, with all of the stability refinements allowed me to feel reasonably safe as long as the car and its vast capabilities are respected. The key to developing knowledge for any car is a professional driving school specializing in the type of car to be purcased.
I highly recommend the Porsche Driving Experience in Alabama, which I participated in 6 months before taking delivery of my choice of vehicle. Understanding the idiosyncrasies of the design, staying within my limits and making responsible decisions while driving allows me to be safe. This also respects the safety of others sharing the roadways.
Participating in other courses will enhance my skills as a driver and lead to further appreciation of the awesome engineering that goes into the marque.
I hope that the owner of the CGT took the time to learn as much as possible about the unique properties and handling characteristics of his exotic car. I would expect that somebody so successful in the business world did his due diligence before exploring the capabilities of the car.

I'm afraid I have to agree. I know that some Users are only checking out ONE specific forum, usually the one which concerns them and their car(s). This is understandable but still: against forum rules.

Re: 70 is too old for a CGT?

I would hate to be the one who has to call the insurance company.

Re: 70 is too old for a CGT?

    Firing squad at dawn then!

OTT response guys, a gentle reminder would suffice. This is supposed to be fun, isn't it?

I think you may have overlooked the "wink" emoticon. You know, this one >

Internet forums are a breeding ground for misunderstandings.
