No, it is fun. Selection is the key word here. 
Meeting the designers, befriending all of the employees, traveling around the world, visiting all the factories that supply the components for your car. Checking all these people their curicculum vitae and work ethic.
Where do you even find the time to drive 300 kph?
Believe it or not but I know many people involved with 911 development and even met two engineers involved with R8 development at Audi Sport. I like this stuff a lot and whenever I get the chance, I try to meet people behind the products I drive (of course I couldn't care less about Mini development but funny enough, I have a friend working in BMW development who again has friends working in Mini development, so... 
). The benefit of driving locally (Bavaria) produced (well, almost...Porsche is in Baden Württemberg) cars, especially Audi and BMW.
It is easier to get close to development than many think, you just need to be a pain in the ass or be a nice guy...or both. 
Also, with high end cars, dealers usually offer opportunities of some sorts or another to get closer to the brand.

I assume the airbags popped because of some sorts of electrical malfunction, not because of the sound but maybe the impact sensors malfunctioned due to noise/vibration, who knows?! Also driving with a race harness and full roll cage on public roads without a helmet, this guy must have a death wish.

A simple rollover, which often actually reduces impact energy because the energy is "burned" in the rollover, leaving the passengers basically unharmed (especially if the car is equipped with various airbags), can lead to a deadly head injury. At least he could have covered the roll cage with some foam/whatever but even a simple bump, lifting his head towards the roll cage, could seriously hurt him. Just dumb.
