In the common RT theme of going off topic, I had a Jaguar F Pace S for a few days last week and was, not totally unimpressed, but was more than happy to give the keys back. GREAT dash and full digital instrument cluster. Nice seats, actually good sized trunk (though not big enough for my family of four going to our country place on the week-end). And of course looks wonderful.
TERRIBLE engine. It's the supercharged V6 and it sounds like mildly annoyed bees, has no power (despite the claimed 380hp) and is never in the right gear.

Porsche needs to shoe-horn their V8 into the Macan el pronto.... if MB can do it, can't imagine it is an impossible task, but they need the bragging rights as this MB engine outguns the Macan Turbo performance pack pretty comprehensively it would seem....
GLC 63 S over Macan Turbo anytime...
my recent stints with AMG have totally won me over. at least for on road driving.
when I think AMG I automatically have burbling V8 in the back of my mind.

I fully agree. Porsche was, according to rumors, working on a small V8 (which also incl. a possible install in the Macan) but at some point, I haven't heard anything anymore.
In my opinion, the GLC 63 S AMG is the most desirable "small" SUV right now. This thing probably outruns the next gen Cayenne Turbo and the whole package is around 105k if you choose the "necessary" options. Considering the fact that Mercedes dealers are generous with rebates and considering interesting lease offers, I think that the GLC will be a bestseller, at least in Germany. It is stealth, it sounds amazing (we "met" a GLC 63 mule without the new grille on the Italian Autostrada almost two weeks ago, license plate A-SP...) and when it passed us, the V8 sound was so nice...not much (if any) difference to the AMG GT models.
I am pretty sure that I can pick up a slightly used dealer car with very little mileage at around 90k at some point, so this could be our next family SUV...or daily driver or whatever.

The Mercedes is so much more evolved and so much more car than the Macan. No doubt - any GLC over any Macan. It looks better too IMO.
The price is ok but as all GLCs it will be very stable. So I guess getting one of those "special AMG" lease rates at the end to a quarter might give you the best bang for the bucks.

Weight is 2010 kg, no PDK but 9-speed MCT (same as in C63 and E63 AMG).
0-100 kph in 3.8 seconds. (Macan Turbo Performance Package: 4.4 seconds).
Thats not really the point.
The point is: You get an amazing V8 with 510 hp in such a mid sized SUV and it looks pretty stealth too.
Will it outrun the Macan Turbo Performance Package on a track? Certainly not. Will it be more fun to drive and enjoy as a family car and daily driver? Certainly yes.

I wouldn't be too sure about it, our Macan Turbo was already a bit below current Cayenne quality (and yes, the Cayenne quality is pretty good).
I haven't seen the GLC 63 interior yet, only the C 63 AMG Coupe interior and quality was really good, especially compared to the 911.
Not a fan of that tablet design navigation screen though...

The Macan is almost 4 year old now and V8 or no V8 will probably still be more fun than this car and has a better interior in leather trim, and unless Mercedes change the whole infotainment software, Porsche does it much better.
So it might all come down to V8 and more hp or more nimble V6 turbo. Coming from two high powered SUV from Porsche and after 3 years, I do not miss the big V8 turbo vs better handling and more fun PDK vehicle. But it is nice to see Porsche getting some competition in the segment they totally dominate, would love a carmine red Macan Turbo with GTS chassis and 450hp and a digital dash.

Actually, there is more digital in the dash than in the Macan...

The MCT is excellent, even in the previous C63 I owned but even better in the new one.

Sorry but personally, I'm done with the Macan. Same with the 911. Maybe the next generation...

This is how my GLC 63 S AMG Edition 1 will look alike (I ordered the SUV, not the Coupe but I don't have a photo of the SUV as an Edition 1). If I do not like the yellow side stripe, I can have it removed.

Believe it or not...me too but I have no choice. The technology/performance of this car is just too tempting to pass on it (most of the drivetrain is actually from the new E63, incl. 9-speed MCT gearbox and AWD system).
Interesting: Dealers didn't get any cars yet (the GLC63 has been delayed), first cars arrive at dealerships end of this year, maybe earlier (not known yet). My car will arrive May 2018, I don't need it earlier since I have a business car until the end of May 2018.
Also interesting: Dealer had a slightly used G63 (worth 173k EUR) test car with very low mileage and he offered it to me for the same lease the GLC will cost me. It was very tempting (G63 looked amazing, similar color) but my wife was so angry that I didn't even bother to let her look at it. 
She hates the G63, so no chance to get one. Was probably the last chance but I shouldn't complain, the GLC63 is the hell of a SUV.

noone1:Kinda surprised it still has an analog dash. When is the update due?
GLC? August 2019 as far as my dealer heard. C-class gets the digital dash earlier (August 2018) but my wife doesn't want it for "her" C63 S AMG Convertible, so we are getting the car in April. Facelift raises C63 power only by 10 hp or so as far as I heard, so no big deal.

Many congrats, Christian. The GLC 63 is currently the most desirable midsize SUV imho.
As to your wife: well, I think she has a lot other advantages so she mustn't be a G63 lover.
In this department my wife is exactly the other way round: she loves the G63 a lot of years. More to come...
