Looks like it should be in the upcoming transformers movie. Not a fan of yellow and black on anything other than a vintage ferrari or a US muscle car.

Thats what a meant a couple of posts before, official color combination for this car are completely wrong. Any color will look better than silver on this car. Only imagine it in black kiss

    RC:

I drove the CGT a couple of times but always had the necessary respect for this car, especially since I always had Walter Roehrl's mishap in mind (there is a video). I still believe though that under normal driving circumstances, the CGT isn't hard to drive, at least not harder than my R8 with ESP turned off (Audi did a bad job here in my opinion).

In the end, it always comes to the driver and his skills and of course how much risk he is willing to take. I almost crashed  my R8 over here  in Italy because I forgot to re-activate the ESP (once you switch to Performance Dry, the ESP switches into the sportiest and almost non inteusive mode) and wasn't expecting that sudden and quite scary oversteer, which could have ended in a serious spin at higher speeds (I was doing around 80-100 kph close to a rockface). The road was a tiny bit wider than my car, so I was really lucky that I drove with ESP partially turned off before and adapted fast enough. Shit happens when you play around with ESP and driving modes, probably why these systems always reset themselves to stamdard factory setup once you turn off the engine.

The CGT has basically only one driving mode (OK, two with TC) but the driving behavior is actually the same all the time, so no big deal adapting. With the CGT the driver is the weak link, not the car. Also maybe the tires when some owners choose to do a few hundreds of kilometers per year with ten year old tires. Just dumb!

Knowing how much Porsche cares about safety and chassis setups, I bet that even with ESP turned off, the new GT2 RS will be quite forgiving, even without the electronic nannies.

Regarding your near crash of the R8, I try not to drive in such a way that relies on the electronics to bail me out. If you are, then arguably you are driving too fast for public roads.

You never can rely on electronics to bail you out. I always drive with my butt feeling Smiley, no matter if electronics on or off and this is why I did not crash. Almost is still...almost. A near crash is no crash. Smiley

He actually made an interesting point but no driver with experience and a bit of skills relies on the electronics (how...they cannot beat physics???), so you always need to be prepared and vigilant and know your limits.

Don't worry...I hear similar stuff all the time from friends and family who don't know me too well. I can live with that, my 33 years accident free track record in mostly high powered cars speaks for itself. Smiley Smiley Actually, I am now driving much slower and more careful than ever before but to regular drivers, this may sound weird. Smiley

Rc, maybe I misread your post but it seems that you were not expecting oversteer because you thought ESP was on, which is exactly the mindset I was intending to address.  But I don't know if your speed was excessive vs some unexpected road condition like dirt etc.

Actually, I didn't expect anything out of the ordinary...I always drive with my butt feeling and react correspondently. Smiley I just reacted a tiny bit too late and the car got into oversteer (I usually drive a clean line, avoiding oversteer or even drifts for the sake of my safety...and the tires Smiley). Usually, these things don't happen to me (I am pretty anal about a clean driving line, kind of my thing), even with ESP turned off but luckily, I know my car well and it is quite easy to control once you understand what it is trying to do. Smiley With the GT500, I would clearly have kissed the rock face but on the other hand, I would have never played around with the ESP on that car. Even with ESP turned on, the GT500 was a monster at lower speeds (tire slip during straight line acceleration at 140 kph? No problem. Smiley).
