    JUST ordered 911 C2S - 2007

    2007 911 Carrera S Coupe
    X1 Arctic Silver Metallic
    AN Standard Black Leather
    267 Self Dimming Mirrors
    342 Heated Front Seats
    405 19" Carrera Classic Wheel
    022 Black instrument dials
    -- and black floor mats

Supposed to be a December build for January delivery.
They have no idea at all when in January, though...

Comments on delivery to North America timeframe for a Dec build??? Comments on my decision to nix the Aluminum dials?

    Sport chrono, PSE and Bose.

Isn't PSE standard with the "S"?

    Re: JUST ordered 911 C2S - 2007

Have had Bose in two other Porsches - they were only marginally better than the crappy base stereo package - and I think you'll see many people agree with this one the board.

on the S, PSM and PASM are standard -- sports exhaust is an option. Sports Chrono just didn't appeal to me...
    :-)

    Re: JUST ordered 911 C2S - 2007

    Bose

Heated seats in Florida? Get power seats instead.

    Re: JUST ordered 911 C2S - 2007

Mine is similar: 2006 "S" in Atlas gray over 2-tone black/gray leather. I also ordered the O22 black dials and I'm glad I did - to me it looks more "serious" than the alum dials. No Sport Chrono either - functional benefits didn't outweigh the ugly factor.

    Re: JUST ordered 911 C2S - 2007

Get BOTH heated seats and power seats (almost infinite fore-aft adjustment) plus you get the memory function (handy if more than 1 driver). Black dials are a good choice. I never liked the contrast with the color of the standard 'S' dials.

    Re: JUST ordered 911 C2S - 2007

I'm single and the female passengers LOVE the heated seats. Especially JAN/FEB/MAR in Florida...

    Re: JUST ordered 911 C2S - 2007

I too went with the black dials and no Sport Chrono on my 2007 997S.

When I posted my order I too was told to get Sport Chrono, I even got a couple of PM's telling me I was making a big mistake. I'm glad I ignored those suggestions and got what I wanted.

As far as time of wait, I am on the west coast and took delivery of my car 35 days after it was built.

    Re: JUST ordered 911 C2S - 2007

My suggestion is to get every possible option you think you might want. After you get the car having options installed later can be pricey.

Agreed - thanks for the repiles all. As far as options, this is my third Porsche so I've generally figured out what I can live with and live without. The MOST frustrating thing is the lack of BLUETOOTH which I'm addicted to on my BMW. Second most frustrating is lack of SAT RADIO. There are some lousy aftermarket solutions for bluetooth, and some decent ones for SAT. Anyone know anything about Parrot bluetooth?? Third most frustrating is how crappy Bose sounds in the car! I imagine that the basic factory radio is a bit easier to upgrade with an improved amp and new speakers than a bose set up.. :-)

It should be but isn't. The sports exhaust IMHO is the most essential option when ordering a Carrera.

    Re: JUST ordered 911 C2S - 2007

In such a sea of black, I'd think the aluminum dials would look distinctive. "Serious" is just in your head, both gauges are easy to read.

The only reason I like my sport chrono, is the sport throttle setting, which to my sensibilities, is the way the darned things should be calibrated in the 1st place. Off of the sport mode, the throttle response, especially low-end squirtiness around town, is soggy and lazy. I don't care if it's simply a matter of perception, because when you're talking drive-by-wire, ALL YOU'VE GOT is perception, you're inputs are being translated by a processor. The sport setting is athletic and energetic, the normal setting is dough-boy couch-potato until you put your boot in his a$$ and force him to do the chores...

I don't wish for blue-tooth, as I begin every day with the DREAM, the FANTASY, that my cell phone will not ring once. Of course, that never happens, but I wish it did... Strapping a device to my ear would be like finally succumbing to "the man".

You can't go wrong with Arctic Silver though...

I'd get Bose. Is it perfect or the best? Nope. But why settle for something yet worse?? Spend the extra so you'll only mildly dislike your stereo, rather than abhoring it altogether. If you felt that the 997S wasn't powerful enough, and didn't stop strong enough, and didn't have good enough headlamps... would you then, by your logic, buy a standard 997 instead?? Are you mounting a peaceful protest or ordering a car?

So, there ya go, for whatever it's worth!

    Re: JUST ordered 911 C2S - 2007

Aside from the other benefits of sports chrono; your resale will suffer without it. Although, to me it's a must have because of its many benefits. I didn't even like the car without the enhanced throttle mapping.
I agree, Bose is not the stereo of choice, but, it's much better than the standard one and a lot cheaper than doing a n aftermarket upgrade.
Power seats are a must. (The girls do like the heated seats)
and, did I say...PSE, PSE, PSE.
If I could have only two options in the car, they'd be PSE and Sports Chrono.

    Re: JUST ordered 911 C2S - 2007

THANKS FOR the opinions. 69bossnine- I see your logic regarding the Bose. In S. Florida, an aftermarket stereo solution with headunit, speakers, bass, etc would run me about $2K. I think the Bose is $1200 option if I'm not mistaken... I may need to rethink that. As far as resale is concerned, I'm leasing most likely (keep my cars 2 years at most)..not even sure my dealer has any sports chronos to test drive -- will make inquiry this week! Thanks again!

Its a retrofit of the Cayenne satellite kit into a 997.

I haven't done this, yet, but plan to when I can find a local shop to help me aquire the parts and do the install.

I had mine done and I love it. My local dealer did mine.

I talked to my dealer about it and they said "No." They won't do it and gave me a line that it fried the PCM in a car they "heard about."

This is one of the reasons I joined PCA. I want to get involved in my local zone club and learn from others where in Colorado is a dealer or reputable shop that is willing to do a retrofit for me.
