I really like the design of the GT2 RS. The front is simple and aggressive, the huge wing is... a huge wing, the color contrast, the hood scoops, it's all good. It might be a halo car, but it is in such a small niche that why bother...
I would assume that Forza had a lot of say on the colour of the launch as it's the cover of their game. I think it would look great in an icy matte guards red (and I don't usually like matte).
Agree with everyone else that a 960 is long overdue and very much needed.

Technology moves on. Why not have all the tech if the penalty is minimal nowadays? You can buy a stripped out, raw and uncomfortable Porsche, or you can get everything under the moon from McLaren, Ferrari, and Lamborghini will offering the same or better performance.
If you want a raw involving car, why buy a GT2 RS in the first place? I bet a 997 GT3 RS would be a much more rewarding drive. Hell, a 996 GT2 would probably be more rewarding with even less advanced mechanical and electrical bits.
I don't see the point in lamenting over a desire for amenities and luxury, but having no problem with the fact that the only reason one's lap times are better is because the car is better. If you can't do 7:25 on the ring in a GT3 RS, then why buy a GT2 RS, right?

There is place for a GT2RS too, the typical McLaren, Ferrari, Lambo owner is not the one that will buy this car. It may be a small niche, but I can definitely see why people would buy this radical car.

It is amazing how things have moved on so much that someone can make this statement and it has a big element of truth in it.
The GT2 model from its inception in the 993 was a heavily stripped out (1290kg) minimalist and very focused car produced for racing homologation,the EVO may be considered the 993GT2RS version, even more track friendly. Technology has evolved so much that I can comfortably daily drive a 997GT2 with full metal linkages and track designed active suspension.... we are all presuming the 991GT2RS will be even more streetable and why shouldn't it be ? It is incredible that Porsche can produce a streetable daily driveable car which can post a sub 7s ring time - fantastic

The R8 "ruined" the 911 experience for me. What I want is a 960 but only if Porsche manages to offer a proper sound.

I think this color combo completely doesn't suits this car. With so many small black parts (plastic / CF) silver is not the color. Black would make this car look so much better. Interior could be CF with dark red/black leather instead of this screaming red alcantara. I haven't seen the rear of the car, but from the side, rear bumper looks pretty hideous...

Whoopsy:Words has it that the GT2RS was running 740+HP during development, but the car was breaking traction in 4th gear.
They detuned it to 680 to have better drivability and reliability.
Would be a good proof of concept though, meaning that the engine can sustain even higher hp output

740hp @6500rpm is about 800NM at 6500rpm (or 770NM @6750rpm), this is not enough to break traction in 4th on a 997GT2 in the dry at 20C + you need more like 875NM if it's warm and dry...Maybe they meant.in the cold or damp where of course it's a different matter.
