Many congrats! I'm sure I speak for many when I say that a lot of people would love to be in your position!! Many people (me included) can only just stretch to buying a 911.

After reading your post, I looked on the Porsche USA used car locator just out of curiosity. Last night, it said there were 8 Carrera GTs for sale in the USA all in the USD350k to USD425k range.

Pioneer Porsche in San Diego has a black one for $339,000 and I suspect they will take less.

As to whether I can afford it is irrelevant. If they dropped the price to $275,000, I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. The car is radioactive.

    $339,000 ???
LOL! You cant even get a naked 997 here in DK for that!
And it's 25000 more than I have to pay for a new 987s!!!
You guys are luckier than you know.

Get the car, Nick! And drive it with that pole! Just shorten it a bit....

You should move, I love Copenhagen, but not at that price

the sound is great and a lot more high pitch than the AWE

Car sounds incredible with the Tubi's!!! But what's with the rainbow sticker on the back of your car?

Even if for some insane reason I wanted the car, I would wait another 6 months to a year. Though I predicted otherwise, I suspect this car will be selling around $250,000 after that time.

I hope you're right Nick because I will definitley go out and buy another one.

    BTW, I am totally serious!!!

    Best,

    Amir

Re: Just bought a Carrera GT

people are starting to realise how great this car is I think prices are going to go up

I have over 9000 miles on my gt I have not had any problem with the car i've just replaced the tires in the back they still had a but of thread but i am doing
a track day on the 2 nov at moroso and wanted to play it safe
this sort of millage with 3 track days is pretty good, although if one could find slick for it the gt would be so much more fun

when Jay Leno made that record run (and crash) with the cgt, the car had slicks on it (which were filled with Nitrogen)

I wonder where they got their slicks from?

Re: Just bought a Carrera GT

I dunno...if I had just bought a CGT I'd definately post some pics here

Re: Just bought a Carrera GT

    ah ha!

    after a bit of googling...

    http://www.michelinman.com/mastapp/pilot/
    click on the CGT picture...

It was conceived on a designer's computer screen as a race car but was born to the open road. While it doesn't wear a number, its performance is record-setting. When the Porsche Carrera GT isn't rewriting record books on Michelin(R) Pilot(R) SX racing slicks, it's carving the roads on Michelin(R) Pilot(R) Sport PS2(TM) street tires.

so there you go...slicks for your CGT

Re: Just bought a Carrera GT

I can tell you all, for sure that the " Tubi " makes Danny's
( DJC) sound more like an F1 car, that like a GT. We didn't measure Torque output, but when I drive his monster, the throttle response is much more brisk, and it lights up the tires twice as long as it did before. I am not kidding. We like that, alot.....

The main trouble with this Porsche-sanctioned source of slicks is that they are all made in 18 inch rim sizes.

Try to get some 18" Carrera GT wheels with appropriate center-lock hub fitments and see what happens

According to some Porsche CGT service tech scuttlebutt, there was very tight security around those particular wheels and tires before, during, and after they were used for Leno's record run. They came out of a Michelin support trailer, were used for the runs, and then returned to the trailer, never to be seen again.

Something tells me that obtaining cooperation from Porsche to mount slicks on the CGT will be extremely difficult (maybe impossible).

So the source of the problem is finding compatible 18" rims for the CGT?

    Correct

"Compatible" could be trickey with the brakes being as big as they are. My tech source said they looked like BBS race rims to him.

Also, one has to be careful about overall tire diameter if the ABS is to work correctly.

    gotcha

of course regarding the brakes, since it was a Porsche-backed event...perhaps they did a little tweaking to keep the ABS functioning properly?

Re: Just bought a Carrera GT

this is the best pic i can find so far of those wheels...

Re: Just bought a Carrera GT

Finally took a pic. I have already put 1,000 miles on it. The cars exceeds expectations.

1000 miles and just ONE pic?!?!

Just kidding, although we wouldn't mind some more

    Congrats!

Re: Just bought a Carrera GT

1,000 miles ONLY!!!! Get moving Tom. Spend less time at work and more behind the wheel..

Re: Just bought a Carrera GT

I agree with Ha! Drive more, work less

Seriously, though. Congratulations! The GT is the supercar to have, if you ask me. The stock sound is just amazing! The few times, I've heard it drive by, sent chills down my spine. Simply unbeatable sound track.

Tom G. that looks like South Pointe on South Beach, Miami, if I'm not mistaken?

Enjoy the car in good health

Re: Just bought a Carrera GT
