Looks like there is a fake panel covering the c-pillar giving it that Lexus GS profile on purpose to throw us off.
Let's hope that the rear edge of the back window has a more classic 911 ovoid curve.
OTOH, maybe this IS a Lexus GS with fake Porsche front to hide their future S6/E63/M5 contender , lol.

Anyway, what are they thinking at porsche?
I wouldn't be surprised if the cayenne's sale director got in touch with the panamera chief designer. He probably said to the designer that ugly sells so well that he shouldn't try too hard or worry about it. I swear I can hear him say:"As long as it sells and brings tons of cash to the company, we're fine. You know, we don't really give a damn if it's the ugliest car on earth, as long as sale's number reach the cayenne's one."

According to the accompanying WorldCarFans article, they are planning a Panamera version with the CarreraGT V10 engine tuned to 700HP.
Can RC or anyone kindle a rumour on this?

...And WorldCarFans says Porsche and Volkswagen are working on a Panamera Hybrid with a 6-cylinder gasoline/petrol engine with a 60kW electric engine combined.
Also, they say the camo. is the body of a Bimmer 5-series stationwagon.

I agree...they are all fake panels since they look very silly...the front bumper is very clear showing that...

Well, the Cayenne, Cayman, 997 , 997 Turbo, 997GT3 all pretty much ending up looking like their camo'd test mules suggested , so I'm not hopeful.Most of us were hoping for something sleeker . No amount of camo can change the observed hard points of silhouette, roof shape, windshield angle - hinting at a tallish , fairly Lexus -like bleach bottle shape.

Let me do it before I really start to doubt the sanity of some of the posters.
1. this car is a PROTOTYPE, not even a pre-production car, a PROTOTYPE and at the same time HEAVILY camouflaged. The only thing you can expect on the final product is that it is going to be a limousine with four doors, nothing more.
2. Porsche is driving around in some "normal looking" BMW 5-series with Panamera technology to testdrive the technology under normal driving conditions. So you can imagine how big (or small) the Panamera is going to be.
3. three engines are expected in the Panamera right now:
a. a V8 with aprox. 380 HP
b. a twin-turbo charged V8 with aprox. 480-500 HP
c. a V10 with aprox. 600 HP.
There has been also a rumour of a hybrid V8 version.
So please calm down guys...this ugly duckling on the pictures isn't even close to what the real thing will look alike.

Im very sceptical about this being nothing more than just a testmule. Porsche has always been very conservative in their design. Why would they put CGT derived lights on there if it wasnt those of the Panamera? they could have just put 911 lights on there or something. All we know liek RC said is that it will be a 4 door sedan! But that said, means that we won't see something out of the world beautiful if Porsche continues to be conservative. I really really hope they go all new on the design, and while still making it seem like a Porsche, it should show a highly modern super Porsche.

The GT3 and Turbo are different becasue they are just 911 models and not completly new cars like the Panamera. the Panamer has fake body panels all over it including on the bonnet to disguise the real shape of the roof, bonnet and rear doors. We are a bit over 2 years away from launch and Porsche doesn't want to give away anything about the deign of the car.
These panels will probably not be on the test mules rolling on the roads in a couple of months and that's when we will be able to see the true shape and lines of the car.
Until then, whining and calling the car ugly is as as pointless as beating on a dead dog.
