Rossi:noone1:RC, would your neighbors allow you to drive this? How do they feel about stripes?
I would take it black in black but since my lust for another 911 has died... Maybe the 992...maybe.
This happens when you switch from a 911 to an "exotic"...it kind of ruins you for the 911 (look at ALDO or others...).
Again...time for a 960...but not with a V6 Biturbo.

They would probably think that RC has some friend from Arabia visiting
Nah, that was the guy who landed his chopper in my garden...

Paulo_Rangel_Melo:With this special 991 Turbo, does this mean that the 992 is coming sooner than we would expect like November - December 2018?
No. 992 is due 2019 with the next Turbo around 2020.

It's from Porsche, already forgot?
We're at the point where you can be the fastest or just sound like you're the fastest.
The secret of life is to admire without desiring.
BiTurbo:If Porsche has finally managed to push the Turbo's price tag close to 260k, I wonder how much they'd want for the GT2 RS ? 300k - 340k
Ah, but you forgot those two special words: Limited Edition. I believe that is a German phrase for "economics no longer matter"

Most likely.
They must be getting tired of seeing so much money left on the table with most of the previous special editions.
J.Seven:I like the black one, but it should cost 210K! At this price I would rather have a Huracan or 488.

SciFrog:This limited edition is all bling no substance. They didn't even make the car lighter...
Actually they didn't bother to re-certiying the car, just reusing the old spec from the regular Turbo S on publications. The real thing is lighter.
I was told that dealers have to check very closely the customers for this car . They have to send all the details, with what car the customer has ( also the non Porsche they own ) , for how long , etc... and send all the info to a special department at Porsche who will then approve or not the order . They want collectors , but not speculators .

I really like Chris Harris but if there is something he doesn't like (and "get") are the various driving modes in the R8 (which he verbally confirmed when he first reviewed the R8 and now again). A little hint to Chris: Once he switches to Performance mode Dry, the Dynamic steering isn't really dynamic anymore. Also, he can switch ESP back on with Performance mode Dry and if he wants to beat the 991.2 Turbo in the wet, he just has to switch to Performance mode Wet and turn the ESP on(!) and voila...you have a rain traction monster (I tried vs various different cars, incl. a 991.2 Turbo S). He didn't even bother...he was driving in Dynamic mode and this is where a huge part of the power goes to the rear tires (in Performance mode, the AWD is neutral and optimized for maximum traction). Kind of disappointing from a car person like him.
The NSX a mini-918? Seriously?

SciFrog:To be blunt all these modes are kind of ridiculous. They should be select automatically or streamlined to a much simpler setup.
Actually, I always wanted that and always made complaints to Porsche that they don't offer it. I love this stuff, setting up my car to various driving situations.

It it gets too complicated and unclear , as it is on the R8 , it is not a good way to have it . I also am favorable for more set ups on the 911, but they need to be simple and clear, without having to read trough 20 pages of explanations .

No, it is pretty easy...once you actually learn how it works (it took me months... )
I blame Audi for not delivering a precise instruction. They have only a crappy documentation explaining the various modes but it is really bad.
Also, I talked to so many R8 owners and nobody knew you can actually re-activate ESP in the Performance modes. They all thought that the ESP deactivation is part of the mode and you can't change it. Audi does not mention it anywhere.

Exactly . They are unclear . It is like they do not want people to change modes .

It is as if they don't want people to actually buy their cars. I do not understand Audi's R8 strategy at all (is there any???). They should give me development and some money for marketing and they would sell double the cars they sell now.

RC,
Like it or not, R8 is not really a car even geared towards enthuisiasts in the same vein buyers of GT models in the United States. In California at least, most R8 owners I know tackle city streets, etc. My neighbor bought an R8 because it was a cool car and he saw it in the Avengers movie once. Thus, it cannot be said that these various driving modes are needed or really even cared for by most owners. The fact that you even have such a driving mode (where ESP can be turned back on) is more of an "easter egg" in tech parlance than anything else. Not surprised there is no documentation on it frankly. None of this diminishes what a great car Audi has made, but in the U.S. at least, it isn't a car marketed to those that are regularly engaging in on the limit driving, even if the car is suitable for that purpose.
I have heard multiple people compare the NSX to the 918...not sure what is wrong with that comparison as the tech is similar.

Audi does not seem to market the R8 at all. I know that many here believe that I am exaggerating regarding the R8 but I drove so many cars in my life and also owned many and the R8 is one of the rare cars I can imagine keeping forever (unless I would replace it with an updated version or a Huracan Performante, etc.).
Maybe I am writing so much about the R8 because I am disappointed how Audi is handling it's marketing and sometimes I am very surprised how little even diehard sportscar enthusiasts know about this car. Just recently had an argument with a guy who thought the R8 is based on the old Lamborghini Gallardo. This is actually something many still believe. Also many don't know that the R8 and the Huracan share so many parts, incl. engine, gearbox and chassis. Then when I tell them that the R8 is more of a race car than any Porsche GT street model out there, they think I am crazy. Yes, the R8 road car and the LMS race car share more than 51% of parts, the engine is actually 100%(!) the same, up to the last bolt, only the injection system is different. What Porsche race car do the 991.1 GT3 RS and 991.2 GT3 share over 50% parts with?
You are right, maybe the "wrong" people are buying the R8 but this is Audi's marketing fault, not the car's. My son, he watches lots of YouTube videos, told me that most of his favorite YouTubers bought the new R8 because it is apparently some sort of "in" car with them, for whatever reason. Not exactly the people I would want to see in the R8 but I guess this is how things are right now.
I have heard multiple people compare the NSX to the 918...not sure what is wrong with that comparison as the tech is similar.
Well, there are other hybrids where the tech is similar but the NSX sucks (the 918 doesn't). I think that Honda started this "mini 918" hype to sell cars but it kind of backfired in my opinion. Even on Trofeo R tires, the NSX sucks. Honda should make a version without hybrid, same power and 200 kg less weight and the car will rock!

This is actually the main reason I still appreciate the 911 (but this works only with the cabriolet and maybe the Targa):
The R8 isn't that bad either (but still miles away from the luggage capacity of the 911 Cab):
