They will probably offer a warranty or goodwill extension but I do not expect more to come out of this. I could be wrong though.

I don't think the owners are looking for more than this.

Pretty much that's what the group was asking for in the first place. They want some assurance that they won't be abandoned by Porsche after the initial warranty ends to protect their future resale value. And they are willing to actually pay for the extended warranty.

maybe they tell us at the end of the two year warranty period: sorry, you cannot buy additional warranty because you have an inherently faulty engine in your 991 GT3RS. all is possible with PAG....

just trade it in for a .2GT3, this trade in will almost guarantee an allocation (at least in Canada).

    Re: GT3 engine issues again?

    Short uppdate:

Result since I started messure oil consumption, 1980 km , 2/3 on track, consumption 3,2 l oil !heart (Around 650 km with the new engine so far, so will easily hit 1000 km before evaluation this fall)

Just a few more track days in near future due to a lot of traveling, but end of August to end of October it will be really tested. Four or five track days in Sweden followed by Portimao and Spa. After that I will have a discussion with my mechanics and evaluate the engine. Let see where we end up. PAG again?yes

    Re: GT3 engine issues again?

I have an oil consumption of 0.5 to 1.0 liter on 1,000 km on my 991 GT3 RS with 1/3 track.

My car has 14,000 km, engine break-in as required by Porsche.

My friends 991.1 GT3 RS took at the Hockenheim Trackday with 3 fuel tanks l - 2 liters of Mobil Oil...;-)

The milage of his car is 6.000 Km - My Spyder's oil consumption was zero, but it needs new tires...

    Re: GT3 engine issues again?

my PZ said to me in clear terms that PAG tells them to calm down the customers and tell them that they have basically bought a racing car and they have to live with the oil consumption. total bs. if nothing happens from their side i shall get a lawyer and fight this through. last week i did 250km which amounted to three markers down in oil on the electronic measurement system (i think there are five markers - possibly six - in total).

    Re: GT3 engine issues again?

that is totally unacceptable crying (btw : on the gt3/rs 3 bars are less oil than in a normal 911 - I had to learn that at a PZ Computer diagnostic - maybe 0.2 L only - but not acceptable at all for 250 km - no way - engine out !!!!

That oil consumption is ridiculous and the fact that it's not the same for other GT3 owners is unexcusable.

    Re: GT3 engine issues again?

ohhh no, then ALL, my Porsches are diesel cars....laugh

    Re: GT3 engine issues again?

I just drove my car extensively over the weekend, doing a drift event in Boxberg/Germany, getting there mostly via unrestricted German highways. The car only used 1 dl of oil within the last 1000km, despite drifting all day, hitting speeds of over 300km/h several times (max was 322km/h, so I guess it has 500hp) at temperatures around 30 degrees all day. Break-in was done according to APs recommendations, car has now 10k km.

    Re: GT3 engine issues again?

how stable is the car at over 300 kph?

    Re: GT3 engine issues again?

It's very stable, the big wing and the front fenders help. It also helps to be used to how Porsche 911 feel at high speeds, meaning don't grab the wheel too tightly. PDK helps too as you don't lose momentum nor you have to take your hands off the wheel while shifting. You can also take corners at 300 on the highway as long as visibility is good and no traffic ahead. My geo is the one used at the SportAuto Supertest including a stiff rear ARB.

so 322km/h is GPS confirmed? how much was this on the speedo? congrats to your (non) consumption of oil!!!!:::)))

It's speedo, not GPS. The car was still pulling slowly and I had a passenger with me.

In terms of running in, I used that:

Great!  That's where my numbers are from as well...

When do you think first oil change is necessary?  500 miles seems rather extreme...

    Hi Grant

I did it at 3000km. At the beginning, the car used a bit of oil, now after 10k km it settled down. I haven't driven the car in anger on track but give it the beans almost during each drive, revving it out in every gear up to the limiter many times, especially on the German highway in high gears from 4. to 7., especially in PDK S sport mode. The car shifts close to 300 from 6 to 7. And with the M176 engine, the higher the gear, the lower the redline so if I shift manually I hit the limiter many times as I always want to go up to 8800rpm Smiley Oil got up to 110 degrees, water at 90 degrees, coming down quickly as soon as take it a bit easier. Oil is Mobil 5W-50, standard from the factory.

Hmmmm, I use 0W-40 that is the recommended oil for my GT3 here in Sweden. But don't think the difference in oil is the reason for my "super consumption" .....SmileySmiley

I think Mobil 1 0W40 is what is used when they build the car, but Mobil 1 5W40 is also on the A40 Approved Oils list.  I used Motul 5W40 in my GT4.  Here is a list (maybe not the most current anymore).
