    Got my 997 GT3 last month - pics here

    Greetings all,

    I rarely post here, but am a regular at 6speed, and somewhat to rennlist as well. If you visit those forums, you've probably seen these photos already.

    Took delivery of the GT3 last month in Stuttgart, and after the 1k kms run-in period, took her to the Nurburgring for a little exercise.

    Love the car to bits. Have only ever driven a Mk1 GT3 prior. It feels a lot like that car, though a bit more civilized (easier to drive, not quite as harsh,) while being noticeably faster.

    Splendid pics Some of the beat ones I have seen yet of a white GT3 !!
    Have you had any mods done at Manthey ?
    What can you say about the white RUF ?

    thanks... canon 350D and a bit of Photoshop will do wonders for otherwise mediocre talent

    no mods done at Manthey... but every time I visit the 'Ring (this was my 3rd time,) I feel compelled to make a "pilgrimage" there. that place is unreal. they probably know more about tuning a 911 to go quickly round a track than just about anybody else on the planet...

    the Ruf is... pretty fast! very different than the GT3... not nearly as raw/visceral. definitely more of a street car than race car. having said that, it sure makes the GT3 feel slow in a straight line...

    Congrats - I assume you have driven it through a tunnel many times with the windows lowered...

    Hi Hespers, what are good collection you have. What color is your RT12, any pic?
    Compare the RT12 and GT3 who got the edge?

    RT12 is the other white car in the pics i posted above

    which car has edge.. hmm... let's see:

    RT12: straightline speed, comfort, exclusivity, ease of driving (its easier to drive around town than a stock 996TT);

    GT3: track car, pure driving enjoyment (i.e., "feel", purity of handling, connectedness to what's going on), exhaust note.

    i would say that the RT12 is the ultimate 911 streetcar (no offense to Gemballa, TechArt, EvoMS, et al. its just my opinion). the GT3 is the ultimate 911 track car that can be used occasionally on the street.

    ok, not QUITE the ultimate 911 track car... i think that honor would go to whatever Olaf Manthey does to the 997 GT3 once he gets around to it
