    Bespoke Rolls Royce Sweptail

For the man (or woman) who has everything. Someone commissioned Rolls to build this at a cost of $13 million and 4 years of waiting. I like it, personally. Other than 'meh', any comments on the design? Smiley

    Re: Bespoke Rolls Royce Sweptail

How do I get in the business of ripping off people for 13 million dollars?  That's an embarrassing budget for such a car.

    Re: Bespoke Rolls Royce Sweptail

I think it's great apart from the price (which I'm sure mattered not to the owner).  Maybe something even more custom would have been better but at least you can tell this is a factory build.

    Re: Bespoke Rolls Royce Sweptail

I like what they did with the front. But 13 million for that?!

    Re: Bespoke Rolls Royce Sweptail

So they just re-bodied a Phantom Drophead. $13M and they didn't even do anything to the mechanical bits? Sorry, but whether they have the money or not, they got taken to the cleaners.

    Re: Bespoke Rolls Royce Sweptail

I would spend my $13m on other things, like cancer research or children in need.

He has a couple of very sizeable mega yatchs to go with it plus over 400 other cars.

It's all relative, when one has billions and billions, spending 13 mil on a car is just like you spending perhaps 13k on a watch or something.

Oh wait, you are too cheap to spend 13k on a watch, never mind.

    Re: Bespoke Rolls Royce Sweptail

Has nothing to do with cheap. Took them 4 years to rebody a Drophead and $13M. How much did Jim spend having one of the world's best design houses build and design P4/5? If I recall, it was like $4-5M and that included the Enzo, and it sure as hell didn't take them 4 years. Took them only a year!

4 years and 13M for a body kit. What were they doing all this time other than burning money in fees? Only other explanation is that the guy who commissioned it changed his mind every few months and made them start over.

It would be more like paying $13K for $500 watch, waiting 4 years for it to arrive, and it being nothing but a new case and dial.

    Re: Bespoke Rolls Royce Sweptail

Interesting. I like certain aspects; others seem incongruous.

The rear quarter window seems out of sync with the tail.

For this much $$$ and time, they should have created a custom greenhouse.

Very true. I have one billionaire friend (or better said acquaintance) who paid over 100k EUR just to "cover" his iPad Pro in carbon, mixed with some black diamonds. It looks spectacular indeed and the leather back is special made by LV but 100k for this? Smiley Smiley

Some people go out of their way to desperately display class and ironically they are displaying the lack of it...

Typically people who got wealthy or even rich just recently or those from regions that set very high incentives to bring money outside of country (China, Russia etc.)... Taste needs time to develop. Style as well Smiley

No, nothing like that and that iPad looks surprisingly cool and tasteful (I know, hard to believe). Maybe I can shoot a photo next time I meet him (maybe in summer in Vegas...and no, I know how this sounds but he plays cards, he doesn't work in this industry).

Very nice guy but last time we met, he didn't even bring a chocolate for the kids (although he knew the kids would be around). Smiley It seems that when you've reached a certain level of wealth, you don't realize where the "others" around you are at. Smiley

That was my first thought as well. A swept rear quarter window would have brought the profile together. The rear had a lot of great elements and the interior rear is wonderful as well, not a fan of the front.
