    POLL: which daily use exotic: F430 or Gallardo?

    For those who have the experience, which is the most suitable for daily use: F430 or Gallardo?

    We all know that Porsche is the best for daily use, but if you had a choice between the two above, what do you suggest in terms of reliability and running costs?

    I picked the Lambo simply because I think Audi understands how to build a daily hassle-free car more than Fiat. Specially in the harsh climate conditions like extreme hot/cold dust/snow regions of the world.

    The Gallardo has very little storage space(the F430 has more storage space). The Gallardo at least has the lift system (the newer ones though) where as the 430 does not. Tough choice!

    If I am not mistaken, the Gallardo has the better a/c system.
    It also has significantly better side impact protection with its head/thorax airbags. And in terms of gearbox reliability, a 6 speed manual version of any car is probably more reliable than the E-gear/DSG/Tiptronic equivalent as long as the driver can consistently engage the clutch below 1500 rpm and refuses to perform drop-clutch starts, speed and power shifting.

    I'm paying peanuts for my 997 C2S maintenance. I drive 12,000 km (7,500 miles) per year. Around $1,000 per year.

    How would an exotic (F430/Gallardo) compare in maintenance with similar mileage? Is it 100% more; or 200% more?

    Is it true that maintaining these cars is expensive and difficult?

    For pre 2006 , with longer e-gear ratios, and i dont think my A/C system is not so good especially over 32 Degree Celcius.
    From my summer expeirence i got sometimes so much heat inside the cabin. Also sometimes really annoying at the traffic.
    Except these G is perfect for me
    For a comparison 04/05 E-gear to F430's F1 , F430 F1 is better than E-gear
    But for 06 G to F430 they must be same.

    for me neither of these car are daily use. You must get a 997 TT or m5/6 for daily use

    Lets say like this. I owned a 996 C4S and drove it for 3 years. The only thing i changed expensive was the discs and brake pads and it costed about 1500 euro for me.I ve driven that car for 47.000km. The routine check services and oil changes are cost around 500-600 euros if no big problems

    For Gallardo the original E-gear 04/05 clutches were like bisquit(as i learned form lambo experts) it sometimes must changed in 10.000km. But new clutches are bulletproof than the original ones, i ve been told like that.Mine was changed at 12.000km and only the clutch price is about 5000-6000 euros (turkish price with tax+ and workmanship)The routine services are cost about 1000 euros (depend on you how to drive and how much km you gone if no big problem)
    If you think you do 15.000 km-20.000km for year you have to spend about 6000+1000=7000 euros if you have to change clutches. But with discs+brake pads+clutch+routine service will cost around 10.000 euros or more. (I am talking about Turkish prices)
    That is also same in Ferrari imo...

    Not per year , per your kilometer. Depends on you what you have done

    As i said the price is Turkish prices and it must be cheaper at around Europe.We have huge taxes than Europe. The price i ve said is if you have to change clutch. Normally i ve seen an owner change his clutch about 20.0000km and i ve seen 2000km also. That depends on several conditions. I am expecting that mine will go 10.0000 more.

    I suggest you ask your local Lambo dealer for a service price list.

    Do you release the heat from the cabin by lowering the windows for a minute while the car is moving? And after airing out the cabin, do you use the a/c in recirculation mode?

    i have been using my gallardo for my daily drive for the past 10 months , so far i didnt spend a dime on it , my first service is due next week, its going to be oil and filters. the air conditioning is great!temperatures in the summer are close to 40 degrees over here and still it was always perfect, no overheat or whatsoever , and was daily in a traffic jam . my car originally had the A clutch wich is the cheesy clutch , it was replaced under warranty at 500 km with the latest E clutch that in virtually indestructible , again never had a problem. i had a great experience this year with my G , a highly recomended car. even now i am thinking of getting the lp640 in the begining of the summer 07 and i cant stand the idea of getting rid of my G, working like a pig to have both in my garage

    I've got a Gallardo Spyder which I use to drive to work everyday in the centre of London. The e-gear system works really well even in the worst traffic. Had the car 3 months and done 4,000 miles - no problems, only thing I've had to do is add a bit of oil
    I used to drive the Ferrari to work and personally I think the Lambo is a better car for everyday use, but there is very little in it.
    I've got another 430 arriving at the start of next year, so I guess I will just alternate between the two for daily use

    True, and I personally think that if they release a V10 R8 (R10?) it will be considered as the poor man's Gallardo.

    On another note, I had a look at that document from a UK mag a few posts above: How can the break pads be so expensive!!! Almost as much as the break discs (which, incidently seem quite cheap).

    BTW, new Murci with completely new V12(from Audi!!) is already in prototyp form.

    I'm not comparing it F430/Gallardo, they are in another league.

    I'm just saying that for a daily driver I would rather buy a R8, which looks exotic but has Audi reliability. (and it saves a bit of money as well.)

    As I heard basic look will be the same...
    Potential new stuff:
    -FSI 550hp
    -Magnetic Ride option(hello Audi! )
    -TPM
    -LED headlights(again, hello Audi)

    The reason is Ferrari will be introducing their replacement for the 430 in the fall of 2008. Certainly it will have at least 550hp and all the technology advances now present in the 599 and more.

    Regarding the cost of maintenance of a Ferrari, my 360's and 430's have all been less than $1500 a year.

    Regarding which to use as a daily driver it all depends where you live. If you have cold and snowing winters then the gallardo is the car of choice. If not, then the Ferrari because of roominess and transmission.

    In my view neither car should be used as a daily driver.

    Totally disagree, I used to drive to work in my X5 and I hated it
    Now that I've used the 430 and Gallardo Spyder I'm never going back to using a "normal" car each day

    I'm still thinking about getting an LP640 for daily use - but I think that might be going too far

    Used the all ways.It sometimes make enough cold but sometimes it was like a/c is not working. It sometimes show diffrence car to car. As dmitri said his a/c is good also he changed his first original clutch at 500 miles then new clutch is bulletproof. I mentioned this at the above. His car goes with 98+ octane very well but my car gives engine bank error when is use 98+ and 100+ octane gas.I use 97 octane. Also dmitri's car is manuel not e-gear. Mine is e-gear. I was talking about 2004-2005 E-gear G's. New 2006 G's with lift systems and lower gear ratios are much better daily use than 04-05. For the maintaince is it cheap? Not cheap in my country...

    But i love the car so much and best car i ve driven
