    Sports Steering Wheel

    I made the stupid mistake of not ordering the sports steering wheel when I specced my car. I'm now being quoted Pounds700 plus fitting for retro-fit from main Porsche dealer. Does anyone know of any other source?

    sorry cant help you there, but why bother? the diameter of the sports steering wheel is just 5 mm smaller, you wont notice it..

    The standard wheel is thin rimmed and doesn't have thumb rests. Doesn't feel half as nice as the sports wheel. In fact it doesn't feel as nice as the wheel in my wife's Ka!

    I agree with you that the sports steering wheel is much better, might only be a fraction smaller but it makes a big difference. It is well worth Pounds143 when speccing your car but it definitely isn't worth Pounds700 to retro-fit. Just make sure you spec it on your next Porsche!

    you could try design911.co.uk or jasmine-motorsport.co.uk
    They may be able to siource one, you might find the airbag module is different too, as the cover on the sport wheel is quite a bit smaller than the triangular one of the standard wheel.

    other alternatives are one of the US delaers like Suncoast, or www.zweeden.com in Netherlands

    i tried both and couldn't feel much difference, so i went for the MF Steering wheel..

    you could also try something like TechArt, and have the porche crest inserted into it so it looses that "aftermarket" touch..

    Along with navigation, if memory serves a certain Top Gear episode - and that costs Pounds3k+ to retrofit.

    Get the smooth leather one if you're going to - feels a lot nicer.

    IMHO, if I were to spend that much, I would consider the Techart steering wheel instead. Much nicer and thicker than the factory sports steering wheel.

    I went for the XPA Thicker Sports Steering Wheel for my C4S, but that too is a disappointment. I should have gone for the Techart wheel.

    The sports steering wheel should be standard on a sports car!

    You might want to consider a gear shift in aluminium (X97) with your sports steering wheel.

    That gear knob is nice, but at least here in the UK silly money (Pounds400)!! On the previous range (986/996) you could get aluminium / leather gear knob, complete with nice little Porsche crest AND aluminium / leather handbrake lever for the same money !

    My g/f has a Ka and it's got by far the best steering wheel of any car I've driven.....

    I also like the Tequipment Aluminum shifter. That one has a solid shaft and the knob is not striped.

    The only non silly money on the porsche option EVER is the sport steering wheel. lol. only US$250. other than that, it's all silly money. If I were to spec my car, that will be a no brainer. too cheap to pass. Looks good too on the car overall...

    How much is actually a Techart steering wheel? Any pictures?

    for a speedart steeringwheel(Raid) you pay 600 Euro ... a gemballa you get for about 1800 Euro but they look almost the same ...
    what the techart costs .. i don t know
