    Re: yea right

    aHAHAHahahaHAHAHahaha

    that [censored] is hilarious

Even for America where people are set to numerical values the shelby mustang has over a hundered LESS horsepower. FORD - [censored] ordinary retarded drivers (just made that up sorry ford owners, just a joke)

    Re: yea right

That's a great commercial. That will also be one hell of a fun car. Too much of a car for most drivers. A ford gt is basically a suped mustang and they are extremely fast. However a GT and a CGT have two important things a mustang will never have, low center of gravity and wide stance.

...to name a few. I can write a novel how they shouldnt share the same pavement but I wont

Ps. My 20 year old 944 turbo destroyed a brand new mustang GT while I was driving my mom to a place to eat....can you imagine how embarassing that is for the dude with the paper plates? Its hard for me to find respect for those cars. I dont want to say they are complete garbage until I get a ride in one or drive one. Im sure they are fun if you get a manual though but certnainly not worth the $$$. Hope I didnt offend anyone, its just my opinion...whatever thats worth.

like the little Mustang is gonna pass a CGT

Because CGT owners constantly race their cars on public streets against Mustangs..

I love the guys answer at the end

    Re: yea right

What's in the water in SD?

"paper plates" ? Is that a reference to the economic status of the typical mustang owner? What does that have to do with enjoying a car? You raced a guy with your mother in the car?

Enough of the snobbery, that belongs on certain other boards. What do you do Ryan that is so impressive? Cured any diseases lately?

My 22 year old 928S2 will beat most cars on the road including yours, but it does not tarnish my view of those cars or their drivers.

    Re: yea right

    Great ad, I liked it

I liked his post, just showing how an older Porsche still beats the brand new domestics. By paper plates he is refering to the actual paper plates you get on a car while you are waiting for the real plates. All he means by this is that the car is so new that it doesn't even have it's plates yet and he is smoking it in his old car. Don't jump to conclusions of snobbery, I hardly think having a 944 turbo is a snob considering the price, status and models of cars most people on this board own.

    Re: yea right

Thanks for cleaing that up for me Danny911. I think thats the first time anyone declaired me a snob

    Re: yea right

If thats the case, I was wrong.

However when you start off saying they shouldn't share the same pavement as a porsche it tends to give the wrong imprssion. And they are not "complete garbage". With 320 ft/lb.s of torque they can move pretty well, I suggest that the driver was beaten and not the car.

Either way, i would suggest not to RACE with a passenger in your car.

    I over reacted a bit.

Accelerating for a short distance on a streight piece of road is not very dangerous. Especially when you have good visability and no cross traffic.

Same way I felt before trying a (relatively slow) Shelby GT-H from Hertz.
Honestly, I actually did almost anything to NOT pick an american car for my triip to the US.
The handling is surprisingly good, firm and direct. It's not just all muscle.
Do yourself a favor and try a GT500. I'm pretty sure you will change you mind about it. I did.

    Re: yea right

It's a good advert, spoiled a little by the CGT bit.
From a European point of view, this shouts 'All Americans are insecure!'.

From the persepective of the intended target audience, the ad probably works very well indeed.

Incidentally, anyone catch the Jaguar ads running over here at the moment? ('Gorgeous'?) Yes, reminding all british buyers that Jaguar is owned by an American company is really going to help sell! (For those that haven't seen the advert is very L'Oreal, with heavy American schmoose accent over the top. I guess the American marketing guys liked the advert so much, they wanted to run it in the UK too).

    Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7j4yjqLb2V0

And looking at the ad again, obviously targetting women!
So now, XK = Girls Car! Well done marketing people.

    Re: yea right

Never seen that jag ad in the US. Without offence to anyone, i have felt that jag became a womens brand a long time ago, since vanden plas editions.

I think men who want a luxury sedan would buy a merc, while older women would go for the jag.

    Re: yea right

Every time I see a Jaguar commercial or ad I think they are trying to sell to the most superficial people. Its gross.

    Re: yea right

The first time I saw this GT500 ad, I thought it was good, but I was only 20 seconds in at this point. Once they showed the CGT moving over to let the 500 go by I jumped off of my couch and yelled at my room mate, who happens to drive a Mustang (although its a V6)...Just had to take it out on someone. The GT500 is a very fast car, but it does lack the characteristics, such as a low stance and balance stated earlier in this thread, to be a supercar. The GT500 does inspire some emotion in me though, I must admit. I am American and the rumble of a nice V8 does get me going. Im sure that thing can eat some tires.
