I have to agree. I've read a few Lotus forums and the guys seem to be into the techy side big time and there seem to be loads of problems. I asked about crash protection but it was quickly pushed aside.
I would never go for a Europa - not my cup of tea at all in any sense. The Exige was amazing to drive but too difficult to get in and out of.
It's got me thinking though.... Anyway, I have the 2.7 987 and really fancy something faster. Maybe I should go for a 3.4 Cayman or wait a while and buy a used 997 which was amazing to drive and ticked all the boxes.
I've been looking at a 993 but once I sat inside I realised how dated the interior looks, being a 10 year old car. Love the looks though of the exterior.
Basically, problem is I have 2 cars - one for fun (Box) and the other for practicaility at work (Seat Altea). All the 996's I've seen are quite pricey still and the only other car I'd consider would be an M5 or Audi RS4 but they cost a bit much.
I think with regard to the Lotus for Pounds34k you would want a bit more car for the money. At least with the Boxster you get that, although it has been a bit troublesome.
Maybe that's why people go from a 2.7 Box to a 3.2 Box then a Carerra. I love the cars Porsche make and no matter how hard I try to convince myself I want something else, how many times the car needs things fixed (horn now), I just love the noise the car makes, the handling and the sheer fun of driving the 987.
Maybe I'm stuck with Porsche now I've got bitten by the bug. Maybe that isn't such a bad thing!
