There Will Be Changes To The 2008 997 TT

It looks like the 2008 911 will have some body changes according to the 997 forum which has a Spy Photo of the 2008 Carrera. Which means the the 2008 997 TT will have these changes. What will it do to the value of the 2007 997 TT? I am about to order a 2007 but maybe I should wait for the 2008? Here is the Link to the changes

Traditionally, the 911 facelift does not affect the TT. I would not expect any design modifications to the 997TT.

Re: There Will Be Changes To The 2008 997 TT

The facelift discussed ad nauseum on the 997 forum is GUESSING that it will appear in the MY08. Nothing definitive shows that as a done deal.

Re: There Will Be Changes To The 2008 997 TT

New rumors suggest it will be Sept.08 (09 model year)

Re: There Will Be Changes To The 2008 997 TT

life is short. get your hands on one now so you can start having some serious fun.

Re: There Will Be Changes To The 2008 997 TT

It won't appear on the TT even if the 08 Carrera has it.
Anyways, that new bumber style where a diffuser is carved out of the rear bumber is gaining in popularity.
The S class has the same one.
Wish these designers would stop copying each other. They must all go to the same design school.

Re: There Will Be Changes To The 2008 997 TT

What's called a diffuser on the rear bumper is that raised layer at the bottom? Does that fulfill an aerodynamic function or is it looks?

Re: There Will Be Changes To The 2008 997 TT

There will always be changes coming out. Can't wait forever. Buy it, enjoy it, and get a new one in 4 - 5 years. BTW, how many 4 -5 years do we all have?

Looks, just like the AMG rear bumpers

Re: There Will Be Changes To The 2008 997 TT

Although they have not done it historically, as the new change look mostly like body parts and rear lights, except for the electric front lip which the could forget on the TT for now, P would be foolish not to put the new parts on the TT.

Like you said, there is always something new coming, P by releasing the changes early will not hurt current value but will send the message that they will release changes anytime they are ready, so no need to wait for the next thing, cause there will always be another one.

Diffusers do have aerodynamic effects, namely lowering lift and increasing venturi effect... depends on the engineering of course

    How true !

Re: There Will Be Changes To The 2008 997 TT

The main thing dictating desing changes in the next 2 years is Europe's pedestrian safe cars which are now being mandated. These changes will affect how the bumper looks aqnd also affect bumber height levels, both front and rear. Also designers must provide air/space in between bonnets and engine blocks to protect pedestrians that walk out in front of speeding cars.

I hope these will not affect the timeless 911 design. If it does, it could be its demise... It was not time, nor PAG bean counters, but the executioner might be EU's bureaucrats.

You sir have a great sense of humor.
I remember the time in the 70's when the impact bumpers had to be developed by Porsche to comply to the US bureaucrats.
I also remember people crying out loud to complain about it and why on earth they (Porsche) would 'fall' for such a stupid US rule. In the end it did not decrease the attraction of the 911. I am sure it will not do anything negative now. BTW , as the engine of the 911 is in the back there is no need to develop anything special.
The primary object is to avoid a pedestrian hitting the engine hard.

What next? A big sponge in the front of the car?

The current 997 and of course the 997 Turbo will be the last generation of "classic look" Porsche 911. The facelift gets a more stylish tail light, which btw. looks good but will definetely put an end to the classic line of the 911.
Bad news? I don't know. The 996 frontlights, especially the first generation, were horrible. The tail lights didn't change too much, they just got bigger on the Carrera 4S and Turbo models.

I'm actually pretty happy that my 997 Turbo still has the "classic" look but I'm pretty sure that the "new" look of the tail lights will please me too. Funny enough, I think that it won't affect me as much as the head lights change from 996 to the 997 (which was definetely VERY neccessary).

No no , rumor has it soon we will all be driving with old mattresses on the hood.
The European bureaucrats want to tackle two problems at once.
Pollution from waste (mattresses) and increasing safety.

Your comments carry a lot of wait around here.
Are you sure you mean what you state ?
Are you really saying that the hardly noticeable new rear lights that will be introduced on the 997 facelift will mean the end of the "classic line"

Re: There Will Be Changes To The 2008 997 TT

Hearing that major dealers in CA can't get any 997TT Tip build spots (post the smattering of Jul06 Tip builds) and PCNA hasn't provided guidance re: when/why of this Tip inavailability and its resolution....

Given P presumably wants to maximize profits, why the Tip shortage? Is the Tip shortage a CA/US/global issue? Any implications for PDK release date?

Do you expect them to change the tail light design for the 997TT as well

Man you got to be reading my mail. My experience was I had to have a 993...and felt the same about the 997tt...were it not for the headlights, I suspect I would have bought a 993tts. If the 997tt is the swan song to the original design...it's great to own one of the last and best of breed..

i'm not RC,but i whant to tell something

i think not..becouse GT2 mules and TT cabrio mules have the same tail lights(and rear bumber)with the design of the current turbo..so i'm not "too much" worried..

i don't think they release two cars of more than 140.000 Euro and in an year they change it the look

    this is my opinion..

We hope so but.. we're not sure of it. . .
Maybe will change also the Turbo...
