DIESEL DOUBTS -- Diesels are hot in Europe, but General Motors won't put them in U.S. cars soon. Chairman Rick Wagoner said the industry's diesel capacity is "pretty much used up." And GM wants to see strong consumer demand before investing in a diesel plant. Wagoner added that U.S. consumers are wary of diesels, in part because of the shoddy diesels GM produced in the 1970s. "You still are fighting in the U.S. a very negative image toward diesels caused, somewhat regretfully, by General Motors 30 years ago."
