    Chevrolet Corvette C6 Z06 test - Automobilismo magazine

    Here are the results:

    0-400 metres: 11,04 s (exit velocity: 200,9 km/h)
    0-1000 metres: 21,65 s (exit velocity: 257,7 km/h)

    0-100 km/h: 4,09 s
    0-150 km/h: 6,84 s

    Top speed: 308,2 km/h (indicated speed: 320 km/h) @ 6250 rpm

    Braking 100-0 km/h: 36,3 m
    Braking 180-0 km/h: 114,1 m

    Test conditions:
    Temperature: 12,4 *C (about 55 *F or so)
    Humidity: 49,4%

    They complained about the malfunctioning keyless access system, but otherwise a pretty good grade, 7,8/10. They loved the engine.

    Also forgot to add the price, which is 82.950 Euros in Italy and the acceleration is brutal, the Corvette can't get all its power to the ground in the 0-100 km/h run.

    Good point. This will need to be addressed when the Blue Devil/SS comes out with 600-700 or more HP on tap to spin those wheels even more. The ZO6 is well-balanced, but not rear-weight biased enough versus the 911, which will adversely affect times from standstill. From a roll/5mph, OTOH, the Blue Devil will fly.

    Guys, it says 11.04 - I trust that it is accurate. The 0-1000 metre acceleration is about as fast as the 430 and the Turbo, so no real difference there. I wonder if the car has more power for the US market .

    Al, 700 horsepower will need rear seats and a rear passenger with a lifetime all-you-can-eat coupon at Burger King for hooking up. That car will be a monster.

    If I remember correcty the times measured by Automobilismo for the 997tt were pretty good too...(eg compared to those of Quattroruote who used the same car for the test)

    I know what you mean but do you have any idea how fast a 11 sec quarter mile is??? (I know you do but you know what I'm sayin)

    It's just very hard to believe, esp for a front engined rwd car

    This is B/S.

    Another Z06 did 314kph in Nardo (a customer's car). Source is German AMS magazine.

    That's why it does 0-100 in over 4 seconds and not in 3,5 . And yes, it is one IMPRESSIVE performer.

    I have an 06Z an the car is basically a race car. Its hard to go fast because when you accelerate lets say on an onramp you are doing very illegal speeds and in the mix of traffic which can be scary. I'm a member on the Corvette forum and the fastest 1/4 mile for a stock Z06 I think is 11.23 at 127mph (stock tires). That was posted by a forum member with the track sheet and all. But honesty the car is more than just acceleration. It handles very well also.

    I seriously doubt that 11.04 second 400m time. It is probably a typo. That time is extremely remarkable (practically half a second faster than any other mag), yet its time off the line is far, far from remarkable. 0-50 kmh in 2.08s, 0-100 in 4.09. The trap speed of 200.9 kmh is merely average for the Z06.
    For reference, Auto Motor und Sport tested the Z06 to a similar 100 kmh time of 4.0s and 400m trap speed of 199 kmh, yet the ET was 11.8.
    BTW, this is the same exact Z06 that Quattroruote could only manage 100 kmh in 4.50 and 200 kmh in 14.40 for that notorious comparo...

    The 0-400 meter test (not 0-402, which would be the 1/4 mile) is probably performed by the launching the car and setting the timer off at the same time, without any reaction time. As to AMS figures, I'm not sure.

    You have to bear in mind that Nardo is a circular racetrack, so a certain amount of speed is sacrificed there. I assume that 320 kph is pretty accurate for the Z06 - I am just not sure if I would really want to drive that fast in it. Talking about flying roofs...

    400 meters = 1200 ft. 1/4 mile = 1250 ft. So, it's actually about 416.6666666667 meters. I am sure the extra 16.666666667 meters could take another 0.8 seconds, thus resulting in an 11.8 second 1/4 mile, which sounds about right.

    1 foot equals 30,48 cm. 1200 feet thus equals 365,76 meters. 1/4 mile is about 1320 feet. Personally, I think they may not have included the reaction time.

    A quarter mile is 1320 feet. 400m is a European standard.
    11.04 is actually quite slow. There's a few owners that have completely stock Z06s into the low 11 second quarter mile (1320ft).

    There's only a difference of ten feet or so, nothing dramatic.

    Correct. It's only 8 feet. Assuming a constant velocity of 199 kmh, that distance would be covered in only .044 second. So the difference between 1/4 mile and 400m can't be explained that way.
    Consider another test done by Quattroruote, for the Enzo:
    0-50: 1.85
    0-100: 3.68
    0-400m: 11.54 @ 209 kmh

    Clearly, the rear-engined Enzo with fatter tires gets the better launch (nearly a 1/4 second faster to 50). And the gap only gets bigger. .41s faster to 100. It gets to the 400m going 8.2 kmh faster than the Z06, yet takes .5s longer to get there? The best test I've ever seen for the Enzo was done by Motor Trend, where it ran 11.0. But that was with a 133.9 mph (215.5 kmh) trap speed and 0-60 of 3.4...


    Are you sure any of these mags would include a reaction time anyway? It's not like they're reacting to a set of lights. If they're using GPS tracking equipment (like VBox, which is what C&D uses), the timing can simply start once the vehicle moves.

    No, I don't think any of the mags do include the reaction time. I was just comparing this to times obtained at the drag strip, where reaction time obviously is included .
