Getting my X51 conversion done next Monday!!!

I wasn't able to order my car with the X51 option because it was sold out earlier this year, when my car was being built. Now, I am finally getting it done Monday at the dealer at a reduced price and with identical warranty as if from Stuttgart!!! Yes!!!

Re: Getting my X51 conversion done next Monday!!!

    Congratulations!!

    Dan

Re: Getting my X51 conversion done next Monday!!!

Wow that is awesome. Let us know what you think after you get the X51.

Re: Getting my X51 conversion done next Monday!!!

Just curious, what are you being charged, parts and labor? I've already got X51--you'll love it.

Re: Getting my X51 conversion done next Monday!!!

    Hi paul

I'm thinking to add this option to my car, Is it worth this price? Can you notice a big difference?

    Thanks

Re: Getting my X51 conversion done next Monday!!!

The price of the parts is a little over $10k - it won't get to $11k. The labor was quoted at the mid $3k so I expect to pay less than $15k for it. Not a big savings over ordering from factory then. Never the less, I tried to do the same when I had my 996 C4S and I would have paid about $15k plus labor so it is not too bad after all. I hope it is all I expect... I intend this car to be a keeper and that's the reason I am doing this.

Re: Getting my X51 conversion done next Monday!!!

My friend just took delivery and I drove it. Love it! Once you drive it, you'll forget about the price tag.

Re: Getting my X51 conversion done next Monday!!!

    can the X51 be retro-fitted to a 997 C2S Tiptronic?

Re: Getting my X51 conversion done next Monday!!!

yes,you can to retrofitted....ruf can done it,it will be cost you about 13000euro and they fit also ruf exchaust ..the power goes to 390bhp

Re: Getting my X51 conversion done next Monday!!!

    Cybergypsy.
    Was it all you expected?
    Regards

Re: Getting my X51 conversion done next Monday!!!

Don't know yet as the car is still in the mechanic. They expect to return it tomorrow, so I'll let you know. By the way, anyone interested in a pair of 3.8 997S cylinder heads??? What about the exhaust manifolds, intake manifold and air box??? I have them all and ready for anyone who is interested in rebuilding and engine or upgrading a 3.6 or maybe for racing??? I don't know what anyone could do with them but, if there is anyone out there who knows and wants them, drop me a line and let's fix a price. Thanks!

Re: Getting my X51 conversion done next Monday!!!

By the way, before anyone mentions that this motor is not used for racing, let me assure you that I know that. Never the less, the mechanic that is installing this kit on my car works with a team (I assume amateur or some kind of club racing) for which they use a 997 Carrera, not a GT3 or other 911 with the split crankcase/dry sump motor, and has shown interest in the parts. But, business is business and, should there be anybody interested, I'll go for the best deal possible. Thanks again.

Re: Getting my X51 conversion done next Monday!!!

At last got my car back on this past Friday!!! The workmanship on the installation seems superb so far! Of course, only time may confirm if this is so. So far, since Porsche advises against going past 5000 rpm for the first 300 miles after the installation, I cannot tell you the difference yet. I can tell the car is substantially improved in the lower range, maybe not in outright power but in driveability. I haven't done any full throttle acceleration runs yet, of course. Once the 300 miles are up, I'll be able to explore the higher rpm range and, hopefully, it'll be all I expected it to be and more. The factory also says that the motor will need an extra 6000 miles to really reach the point in which all 381 hp will be available. That's a long way to go but I look forward to it. Now, again, if anyone is interested in the parts I got, let me know. They only have 4175 miles on them and are, namely, the headers, intake manifold, air filter assembly and the cylinder heads. I have them all available to any reasonable offer.

Re: Getting my X51 conversion done next Monday!!!

I have finally passed the 300 mile breaking in period that Porsche advises once one installs the Powerkit. Well, all I can say is, without resorting to hyperbolic remarks, that it is exceptional and really worth the price, if one can stretch the budget. For me a GT3 was not an option since I have a need for the rear seats and now I can have the power level of a 996 GT3 in a Carrera based model. That can't be beaten, can it? So, it is definitely worth it and can't wait until 6000 more miles pass by the odometer so that the car can have its 381 hp fully on tap!

Re: Getting my X51 conversion done next Monday!!!

Congratulations on getting the X51 conversion done!

Re: Getting my X51 conversion done next Monday!!!

Pls keep us posted on how she opens up!

Re: Getting my X51 conversion done next Monday!!!

I want one!!! If it wasn't for this home renovation thing. And the wife. And the 2 kids. And the.... You know what I mean. I guess I just have to wait....

Re: Getting my X51 conversion done next Monday!!!

I know exactly what you mean That's why I said the X51 is a Porsche recall number for all 997Ss and free since it is a warranted issue.

You only cry when you have to pay for it. Well that is what I was told when I was buying some highend home audio.

Re: Getting my X51 conversion done next Monday!!!

I wish I could do the same to mine, but retro-fit at my dealer will set me a price far superior to check the box when ordering it factory... not to mention local VAT and Custom Duties... I had the X51 on my 996 Anniversary, and it was unreal... especially the low-end throttle response... Congrats :-)
