Well, first off, it's Car and Driver, so take it all with a grain of salt.
What's that supposed to mean? I find C&D pretty good about these things. It's not like "Road and Track" (at least what they used to be) or "Motor Trend" (giving the Chevy Impala or some crazy car like that "Car of the Year" at one point - talk about advertizing dollars at work for GM).
Plain fact is, the Solstice GXP has more HP than the regular Boxster. On tracks that are hp dependent, the regular Boxster will get spanked. Even the M Roadster has gobs more power than the Boxster S - AND it's faster in the Nurburgring... But guess which car I bought?
Car and Driver or not, it is what it is... By the exact same reasoning, the Corvette Z06 spanks the regular 997 any given day of the week - at any track.
Well naturally a BMW owner would stick with C&D.
I find that with C&D you can usually determine the winner of any of their comparos before you even read the article. Most of the mags are pretty bad this way, but C&D is by far the worst.
