    The car on this picture is standing on the southern side of the Grimsel - the roads you see in the back are the ones of the Furka. I had the urge to cross these two on my way home from the Porsche showtime meeting in Interlaken on Saturday, August 19.

    I once found this picture of the Furka Hostel (the building you see in the back on the picture above) - must date back to the 1920ies - even back then these roads were popular to try out ones roadsters.....

    The Porsche Showtime meeting was held for the 4rd time this year. With the increasing number of participants (they had over 1000 cars participating this year) the meeting is supposed to be fixed for next year, I guess.

    As Porsche now resigned the contract with the main importer AMAG (a contract dating back to 1953!!) to be present officially in Switzerland I hope that such meetings will be supported by Porsche directly to keep them alive.

    You're living in Porsche dreamland - I just returned from a 3,400 km holiday trip (thereof 2,200 km alpine roads and passes) around the Swiss, Italian and Austrian Alps - the most incredible driver's trip of my life
    Susten, Furka, Grimsel, Gotthard, Nufen, Simplon, Croce Domini, Timmelsjoch, Hahntennjoch, Namlos Valley - you name them, my Boxey did them all during the last 2.5 weeks.
    I will post a full report and tons of pics (though just of mediocre quality) during the next couple of days. Too bad I missed the Interlaken meeting due to a business engagement
    There is nothing like carving through these fantastic alpine passes with the Boxster enjoying the breathtaking scenery with the top down
    Guess my rear tires will be gone soon though...

    The Stelvio is am absolute belter too. The only problem I find with most alpine passes is that just as you enter nearly every bend you find a virtually horizontal biker coming straight at you. And quite often about 20 of them in (extremely) quick succession.
