When it comes to sportscars, it actually is...one reason Ferrari and McLaren have such "low" prices vs ROW markets (tax reasons excluded). Also, some cars have shorter delivery times in Germany (Ferrari).

In Germany, the Mustang is (was?) the second sucessful sportscar after the 911 if I remember right.

Corvette sales in Europe are ridiculously low in Europe, I saw at the rental company here in Miami more Corvettes in a minute than the whole year in Germany. LOL

Germany is a very tough sportscar market...customers are picky.

The Urus is color sensitive, the flashier the color, the "better" it looks.

As a little side note: Audi Q8 RS is coming this year...600 hp, V8 Biturbo...basically same engine as Urus but less power. A Performance version is also planned, up to 630-650 hp.

A long time ago I accepted that SUVs are very hard to make look good. I still think Range Rover does it best though I am not a fan of the drive there. It will be interesting to see what Ferrari comes up with.  The thing that attracts me to the Urus is 0 to 60mph in 3.6s Smiley and for sure there is no pointing in owning a Lamborghini in grey IMHO.

Nah, easy, take the Lambo. It has emotions, i.e. engine sound.

    Re: Urus (SUV)

well, I guess range rover does it best, because they stick to making more utility and less sports based cars when it comes to design language.

hence I love the G....it is what it is. especially the outgoing version.

Yes, there was an Urus presentation at "my" Lambo dealer (Audi dealer) and the Urus sounds definitely amazing, even better than AMG models. Smiley

I cannot get over the interior of the Urus...such a beauty. Only the steering wheel needs a bit of "fine-tuning", too much Audi.

My LOL is related to the fact that Audi will take some move toward sporty SUV...they better concentrate on proper sports car. the way industry is moving is very scary.

I even found the new Touareg looking much better than new Cayenne...something is wrong.

    Re: Urus (SUV)

What's it sound like when you don't stick the microphone inside the exhaust pipe? Too many people focus on what an exhaust sounds like when you rev it at people on the street with a zillion hard reflections, ignoring how much of the sound is lost when you're actually sitting inside the car. This is why I don't really make a fuss about exhaust noise -- it rarely translates forward through all the material separating you from the exhaust.

People said how great the Pista sounds in that video. I thought it was a loud generic turbo at best from inside the cabin. I mean, there is a shitload of material attenuating the sound. It sounds nothing like those gpros glued on the back bumper.

I remember when I first drove a 458, arguably one of the best sound exotics in recent years, and while it always sounded amazing passing me slowly on the streets in the city, the reality is that it just didn't sound like that inside the car on the open road. Did it sound bad? No, but it sure as hell didn't sound how people make it out to be in the videos.

Most car exhausts seem geared towards sounding good to the people on the street, less so the people driving it.

To be honest, I enjoy how the car sounds to me and not others but yes, there is a tiny little voice inside me enjoying how my car sounds to others as well, why should I lie?!

Yes, I enjoy it when people point towards my car and have a smile on her face (not so much when they raise their fists or show me middle fingers but this happens extremely seldom) and I enjoy it even more when kids start screaming in joy when they see my car, this always makes me happy.

Unfortunately, not all cars sound very good from the inside. Even the R8 sounds quite muted from the inside vs. the outside. The Huracan is different. The reason is probably the extensive use of dampening material in the R8, just a wild guess though. This is probably the problem: How to combine a sporty sound with comfort. I don't care about comfort. Maybe car manufacturers should start to offer versions of their cars without any dampening/noise reducing materials in the interior, could be fun.

Smiley True but I meant the same (brand) car manufacturer...

This was probably the mistake with the R8 from the start: Too much comfort. It works, no doubt but the car is not a track monster and too expensive to seriously compete with the Huracan. Until they made it cheaper to lease but many cannot lease (credit history) or don't want to lease (they want to own the car) but the first group doesn't get a car and the second group doesn't want it because of the huge depreciation. It is quite the vicious circle here.

    Re: Urus (SUV)

Mistake? Maybe this was planned all along to protect the Lambo... VW is the master of dumbing products to protect the profits, no need to elaborate as we have been beating this dumbing to death...

As you said, vicious circle, but if they made the R8 as good as you said, there could kill Lambo sales and/or there would be no cheap lease... In the end you just should be happy to have been able to jump in an R8 that was « good enough » for you.

Oh boy, you cannot even imagine how happy I am. I saved a ton of money and made my wife happy as well. Smiley

"Cheapest" super sportscar I ever encountered.

Regarding VW and protecting profits: Well, the strategy paid of, didn't it? They even survived the emissions scandal pretty well (I feel sorry for the employees who got arrested, seriously...they were loyal to the company and company policy), the Diesel will very likely rise up again (new model strategies with Euro 6d temp cars, new Diesel tech from Bosch and others) and keep people buying them until the EVs and infrastructure are ready and so on...perfect for VW.

Look at Facebook and the data privacy scandal: Almost forgotten.

People forget, people get over it and in the end, all that counts is convenience, comfort and cost(=money).
