When you're planning to finish the construction? Can you post a track map?

    home-footer-track.jpg

Runs counter clockwise, bottom left is turn 1, 16 turns total and 4.85km long. The longest straight is 800m long, I saw 270km/hr on it. The Clubsport will do around 220-ish for comparison.

Phase 1 aka the track itself is complete, clubhouse and garage storage is phase 2 which will be commencing.

We have the option of running a short track with the turn off half down the long straight, which is actually useful as the heaviest dirt run off from the rain is at turn 6, the sweeping right-hander at the top of the pic.

Wow! Smiley I'm speechless.... Its going to be a hell of a track! Well done Smiley

Believe it or not, for annual service the car looks almost the sameSmiley

The body panels are simple bolt ons, it's easier to access everything i they are taken off. The rear fenders has to come off just to change the air filters.

It's actually looked scarier than it really is, Porsche designed the panels to be a easy on easy off item.

I think this is the real reason why Porsche offered the VIP program, they knew the 918 will be in the shop for long periods of times hence they sell us other special cars to drive while the 918 is in piecesSmiley

I think Porsche has been pretty good to Nick so far as well, but IMO it would be frustrating to have the thing in the shop more than it's in your driveway. Smiley

Carlos, I know what you're referring to but this is unacceptable. A million dollars for a car should bring you a modicum of reliability. This is a Porsche developed by infallible German engineering.  Nick can't go three months without mechanical issues . To his credit he is stoic about it and makes the most of it.Smiley

My 20,00 mile and/or 2 year service was just quoted at US$6,600.  I said, "OK".

They are also performing 5 different recall/service items for free at the same time.

For a few days, the car looked like it was hit with an IED.  Major disassembly.

Ha, that's nothing, wait till you see it up close for all the dirt and dust. And it will be even worse on the inside when they split the car up. He already asked me if I want him to wipe the car clean when he split it. I said no. Smiley

Its all part of the" hypercar experience" . Interestingly of all of the Holy Trinity it seems that the La Ferrari is least troublesome.

To be fair, the LaFerrari is the one that gets driven the least. Most of the owners are the 'collectors' in Ferrari's eyes, the cars are basically parked somewhere as an investment.

The P1 guys drive their P1, hard. But that 12C platform is pretty matured, so not much trouble.

The 918 is a ground up car, nothing on it has been tested before, it is basically a beta car, we owners are the guinea pigs. Most of the 918s are also driven hard problems are bound to happened. My car is even worse, it's one of the early cars so it doesn't benefit from the running updates they do on the line for the later cars, so basically every update/ix/recall will include my car.

I went in knowing the car will have problems, which halo car doesn't? It's part of the 'game'. I could have clamped up and not post about anything and you guys wouldn't know any of it. Smiley

I don't mind as it's not my only car. I had already put almost 10,000km on it in 2.5 years. I believe the average owner has 15.something cars in their garage. I am way behind that curve with only 10.

$6600 for two year maintenance? Clearly supercars are out of my league and probably why I set a $250,000 limit on car purchases.

Smiley To be honest: I am so happy I got my R8. Only two oil exchanges so far (15000 km) and none of them was actually necessary. For me, this is a big deal, incl. the 5 year warranty which covers the 4 years lease period completely. I cannot afford paying big money for maintenance/repairs for a weekend toy car.

To Porsche's defense however I have to say that their "comparable" product 991.2 Turbo S is quite reliable and shouldn't cost a fortune regarding maintenance.

I am pretty sure however that Porsche will be generous when it comes to 918 issues/repairs...even after the warranty runs out. They cannot afford to p.ss off good customers and the 918 is still their Halo car.

$6600 for 2 years is pretty cheap for that car. A $250K car will have $1500-2K yearly maintenance at a dealer.

Agreed. Plus that car itself is worth much more than what the original owners paid for it so who cares...

Re: 918 latest news Thread Closed

Yeah, the maintenance cost for that service is just over one half of one percent of purchase - it's equivalent to around $750 for a GT3...
